Oil Filter Shortage?

Dropped the 500 off for oil change today and they call me 3 hours later saying there is national shortage on oil filters. Where is everyone ordering theirs? Any good off-brands?

Pick up the phone and start calling dealerships 1 at a time, and there is no off-brand I would trust despite whats being said at the moment.

Thanks! Yeah, off-brand seems bad idea. Calling around was futile. I'm on some alerts for back order.

I picked up a few alternatives since it's the same filter as a gt350 from even Walmart.

Sorry, They are not the same, the filter for the 350 has no metal insert, and the STP is not a viable Alt.

I seem to recall that one of the regular guys here is married to an attorney, so I was waiting for someone to say "class action lawsuit". So I went looking for what obligation Ford was under to provide parts and found this:

It seems to imply that If Ford does not make a part, they must spec an aftermarket replacement for a vehicle that is in it's warranty period.

You are correct, but the 350/350R is not the same as the 500 as is how I took the reply I quoted.

And it seems the 350/350R is also being converted to the newer filter due to flow.

someone over in the 350 section said the Canadian dealerships have them. Its true, my brother in law was in Vancouver today, they had 6.

What do you mean Flow?? If you look up old filter number is refers you to the new number. what documentation do you have it was changed due to a flow issue. look up old filter number and it refers you to the new.
