I am not sure about today's oils but many years ago I do know that quaker state oil was made from a paraffin base crude oil, so it was wax based and notorious for causing heavy sludge in motors that did not change oil every 3K religiously. I know because I rebuilt many a motor back in the 70s and 80s that used it and had to scrape it out of the motor like you would tar.Random question. Does motor oil have a certain amount of wax in it like diesel fuel? I've always wondered if the white substance in the catch can is wax. Any thoughts?
