I was caught off guard by some mis-information about the GT350 wheels, so here are the 'official' wheel specs with photos to back-up the specs.

Front
19x10.5", 30mm offset, 60.5lb (with 295/35/19 stock tire)

Rear
19x11", 62mm offset, 61lb (with 305/35/19 stock tire)

Comments:
- I was a little surprised to see that the rims were made in China.

- The lug nuts are HUGE! They are almost 1.25" in diameter and weren't even close to fitting inside the Forgestar wheel. I think that spline drive lug nuts will be required for most aftermarket wheels.

- My Forgestar F14, 19x11ET56, weigh 24.5lb. With a 305/30/19 tire, they weigh 56lb, about 5lb lighter than stock. It could be mostly in tire though, since I'm comparing a 305/35/19 to a 305/30/19.

I'll try to update this post with clearance measurements when I get some more time with it.

and your iPhones.... China doesn't necessarily mean crap quality. There's the whole range of craftsmanship there.

There's a whole range of craftsmanship here as well but Washington seems to think it's a great idea to tax the hell outta domestic industry.

Sucks...

Agreed but with the cost of labor and material in China and Mexico this is one of the ways that helps Ford keeps the costs down for these great cars otherwise we would have a much higher MSRP.

Yes, wheels produced in China and where do you think the Tremec 3160 is manufactured? Mexico I believe but a vast improvement over the Chinese produced Getrag MT82 transmission that came in the Boss 302 cars.

If there was a weak component to the Boss 302 it was of course the Getrag MT82 transmission.

I personally have not had an issue with the MT82 but a lot of Boss 302 owners have.

Let's hope the Mexican built Tremec 3160 has much more durability than the MT82 tranny?

These wheels are insanely heavy. I'm convinced it is to handicap the GT350 vs the GT350R. Ford could have easily put a lighter wheel on this car for the same amount of money.

Have you put your Forgestars on the car? If/whenever I get my R, going to do the same set up I had on my GT-R: Forgestar F14 Deep Concave up front with Super Deep Concave in the rear with the Bronze Burst finish. Forgestars for show, CF for go.

Oh no I understand the costs and everything but there's just a sense of pride of it being made here. I'm not complaining mainly cause I still don't have my car but I'm just one of those that loves seeing stuff made in the good ol U S of A.

It doesn't bother me when the burger flippers (cheap/easy labor) are in China. At least the engineers, management, designers, etc. are here in the states. That's what really counts. I like to see the grunt work done someplace where wages are low and the more difficult work done by Americans.

For the wheels, Americans can design the tooling, set up the work rules, inspection criteria, etc. - the Chinese can learn to follow instructions.

I remember being told by a local guy that worked at the St. Paul Ford assembly plant that he could choose any job in the place and that he made more than me. Now I don't have a huge ego about being an engineer, but should a guy be paid more to pick up cardboard or push a broom than engineers get paid? Unions.. :tsk:

..and then that inflates the price of the car for all of us.
