MPG is 33 on the hiway. They are throwing out the hybrid MPG and omitting the real MPG that most people will experience.

Also a 54" bed length, what can you put in there that will overload in mini bed space. Who cares about the payload if it won't fit. Will not carry 2x4 studs or plywood without major over hang.

I can carry longer wood in my Mustang (I've carried 12 footers)

Now get a good tune and some fatties sitting low, that make a neat cruiser.

the tailgate has a 45deg lock position so it's at the height of the over-wheel for carrying 4x8's. 2ft of overhang is not great but it's doable. I can count on 2 fingers the times I've carried 4x8 in my truck be it Ranger or F150. I've carried 2x4 in 8' or longer I think rather less than 10 times in my entire life.

I liked my Ranger/Mazda. It had a extended cab and 6ft bed but I put motorcycles in it constantly. This obviously won't work but as a 'truck' for the family vehicle it works great IMO. I bet Ford will release a regular cab for commercial fleet sales soon enough as the universal 'errand' truck.

33 highway is much better than the Santa Cruz will be. 90% of my driving is all city, mainly only hit the highway for road trips.

I don’t care for trucks but I’d buy one of those. I’m light duty guy.

I daily a 2019 Nissan Frontier which is based on an ancient but reliable platform though the 4 liter V6 is a gas hog. I get 17 city and 22 highway. It has a 5 ft bed and I haul mulch, flowers, etc. I had a 2007 Ranger before.

I will at least take a look at the Maverick when it comes to dealerships. I think financially, it wouldn't make much sense. I paid 20k for my fully loaded Frontier with 15k miles on it. That was right before Covid hit. The upcharge for a new Lariat trim Maverick would buy me a lot of gas for the Frontier.

my Frontier 4S was 25k with 3000 miles on it, 2012 model in summer 2013 - at the time the most money I had ever spent on a vehicle. I average nearly 22MPG in my v8 Mustang so the Maverick doesn't impress on that front. I'm waiting for them to do a standard or extended cab with 5.5 bed. I'm frankly amazed Ford defined a Lariat trim on what was ostensibly a budget family hauler. But hey, I guess there are plenty of people who totally miss the point and will hand Ford piles of cash for grossly overpriced up-trims.

I think these will sell well. The vast majority of the 1/2-ton trucks I see running around my area aren't used as trucks, one of these would fit the bill for many people. Hell, outside of the half dozen times I really use my F150 per year, a Maverick would work for me the rest of the time.

After looking at specs, my brother is seriously considering one for a driver, and leaving his two older 4x4 F150s for the heavy stuff (and maybe finally getting rid of the oldest one, a '97 with a bazillion miles on it). His ideal unit priced out under $30K.

Base, tow package, AWD with non hybrid. Less than 26k.
Live in rural are so hybrid not needed.
Hoping for aftermarket mechanical enhancements.

damn it, where's the 6-speed manual option? :) Why does only Toyota have all the fun? $26k and I'd possibly trade the F150 eb3.5tt in for it.

No American pickup is available with a manual anymore, (except the Gladiator).

How was interior? At this price did it scream plastic plastic? Also did you get a opportunity to sit in seats, opinions.

I was at Fab Fords also, they didn't have truck open, just on a turn table. I wonder if it ran?

WTF is up with Ford using names of vehicles that have no relation to the original vehicle? No creativity apparently.
