DI means they can now run the timing into what would otherwise be detonation territory.
With DI, you cant detonate if the fuel isnt in the cylinder yet.
DI allows injection in pulses. Massive advantage.
Expect 478 on the GT and 963 on the blower car(name not yet released).

Yea the Camaro's build and price went live just recently so Ford needs to get on it. I just want to know it there will be a GTPP2 1LE competitor or do we have to add the mag ride, forged wheels, active exhaust separately.

This is a far more important question to me than the debate over a few HP (I'm still betting on 455 minimum). How much and what are the mandatory combinations. I want magnaride and quad exhaust, but how much and what else do I have to get? Am I going to have to get max driver assists that I don't want?

I agree the 478 number is realistic based on the ford rep's huge laugh when I mentioned only 455 for '18. He said 480 minimum.;)

Since 2015, Ford factory has been providing a motor and trans capable of sustained 650-750rwhp.
Its not reasonable to expect them to provide a turbo, centri, roots, screw and nitrous version.
1. Too many low volume models.
2. Most importantly: modding a Mustang (or Camaro) is a part of the American experience that Ford has now shared with the whole world.

They could build a factory FI Mustang, but even if you could afford it, the base GT is still Fords greatest gift.

Chevy finally caved in and started working on larger motor DOHC like Ford.
Pushrod tech has come a long way, but FI and DI tilt the scales in Fords direction and Chevy cant risk falling behind too much in any one area.

Regarding Holden, mad respect for those chaps: think GM corporate wanks ought to give those blokes another opportunity and budget.

I do like the LS engine and have one in my "Road Racing"FD RX-7 that I've just sold because I've got a new job that precludes me racing.



More importantly Ford Australia developed the I6T which has a cult following here. Think of it like a Toyota 2JZ but with 4L capacity not 3L.

With just a tune and exhaust they go to 465KW ATW. Equivalent to 625 HP AT THE WHEELS. My old untuned, un-modded Ute was faster than my wife's 2017 GT Mustang V8. But I LOVE the Coyote engined Mustang.

So back on topic:
