Isn't the battery under its own warranty, which I thought is usually 5years?

If the car is also within the 3/36 bumper to bumper, the battery should be replaced under that provision.

Just for reference…the stock battery in my 2014 GT lasted until late 2020..built in late 2013. So basically 7 years. It didn’t die but it sounded real funky and it tested poorly.

Caily driven about 25 miles a day. Climate is costal California.

I had 8 years on my Scion tC, 160k miles when I replaced it, it started every time, no noises or anything. I never once checked it or added water or anything. the Toyota dealership tested it, and said it had a CCA of like 170. so I let them replace it. I know people say oem batteries suck, but I generally have had fair luck with them.

truth be told, I dont even know how to add/or what I should do to the batteries. just never felt the need to even look let alone add water.

when I bought my 2017 mustang in 2019 February, 2 year leftover. I picked it up, and the battery was shot. I made it home, but it tested super low. like, extremely. the dealership replaced the battery under warranty, it just sat for 2 years depleted which I guess is awful for the battery. new batteries been chugging along just fine

Three years and a day seems to be the rule for both my '13 and '18. Both failed while traveling from FL to PA. The last time could have been avoided. I noticed a very slight hesitation in the time from hitting the starter to the engine turning over. I commented to the wife I should have it load tested, but didn't. Payed for it later.

I notice my car is constantly reading over 14V now, which I think may be a bad sign that the battery is nearing end of life and the BMS is trying to compensate with a higher charging voltage. When my car was newer it was typically showing in the 13V range.

Which brings me to another question--is there any proven, documented way for the owner to reset the BMS on a late-model Mustang, without Forscan or any other tools? [Edit: I found the following link, but I don't know if it works on U.S. market S550 Mustangs:

Factory battery on mine went out at ~4 years/60k miles. In cold weather it would start the car just fine - but only once. If you tried to start twice in quick succession, it would die

I typically get around 5 years or so from my batteries, before they go Tango Uniform. This is based on my experience with my 2002 and 2005 Honda's that I bought new and still have. If I don't plan to drive it for a while, it goes on a trickle charger. I top off the electrolyte level, every oil change. As a preemptive strike, I have been changing the battery at 5 years, since they are fairly inexpensive at Costco and beats the hassle of the dreded clickkkkkkkkkkkk.

That's well and dandy if it isn't your only car and it happens Monday to Saturday before 3pm, otherwise you're SOL waiting for the dealership to open and get you in, test the battery, confirm, swap the battery, and send you on your way. Advance Auto was about $160 and had a three year warranty so the replacement I just got was free. They're more common than a Ford dealership and have way more convenient hours to make battery swap workable.

I did think about taking the dead one to the dealership and getting a replacement to just keep inside but didn't bother.

When some they’re cheap. Not so much, I picked up a two year warranty battery from autozone for my son that was $150. Normally it would have been around $90.

Broke down and bought a Duralast Gold from Autozone for$169. It has a three-year straight replacement Warranty. I can live with that.

Mine only lasted 2 years. (10k miles & 25 months) and I wonder if it has anything to do with the memory seats sucking juice every time I turn the car off. Had it replaced under warranty.

Check the battery water level once a year. A top-off can keep a battery running longer.
