Hey Stang owners,

I got my EcoBoost half year ago with the 18'' *8'' foundry package. I am considering purchasing a set of tire and wheels that are more track orientated. I am thinking about getting the Pilot Super Sport Max Performance Summer tires (235/50ZR18). Any suggesting for that? And what is the offset and fitment I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Are you keeping the stock wheels? Or aftermarket wheels with new tires?

If you are looking at new wheels, I'd stay with 18, but go wider to 9 or 9.5" wheels. That way you can get wider tires also 255 or 275 front and rear. And for tires, the Pilot S sports are a very nice tire, but also quite pricey (especially for a "track" tire). I'd look at BFG rival, Dunlop ZII, RE71R, RS3.

Hey thanks for the suggestions! What offset should I use for the wheel though?

Depends on the width and if you have PP brakes (not sure on eco PP brake size). I don't own an S550 yet, so cannot comment on my personal experience. But check out the "Agressive fitment thread" for suggestions. Also this is a good thread with lots of info: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32548

Rival S, RS3 and RE71R are 200 tw (advertised at least) tires that are focused on max performance. The MPSS is a much better overall tire, for those not looking to eek out that last tenth of a second, say at autocross.

I'd do some research, but you have 3 groups. Cheap stuff like Sumitomo HTRZ3 decent tire, but more for doing burnouts and not caring about the price... Then the MPSS, which is a solid all around summer tire, quiet, decently sticky, handles rain, etc. And finally, the 200 tw tires (and below) that are really focused on timed events, or maximum traction. Will wear quickly and potentially be louder and worse in rain due to tread design.

You have a number of options, since your going for a track oriented setup I would recommend a rotory forged or flow form flow forge application to help shed unsprung wright

For tires MPSS, RE-71R

Bump it up past a 235 tire. You can't go wrong with a 275 MPSS squared setup. Lots of wheel options too many to list.

Thank you all for your input! I am now thinking about APEX EC-7 18*10 with MSPP 275 or 265 squared setup. Do they differ a lot? Any suggestions on that?

THanks again!

I think probably will go with MPSS. You meant 275/40r18 squared setup? Does that fit at the front?
275/40 will work in the front.
