NT05R less then a 45 aspect ratio sidewall is pointless. You need to air em down quite a bit. With my 305/35r19 NT05R airing down made the hop much worse, raising the pressure delayed when the hop kicked in (dead hooked, no spin, armageddon wheel hop 1st-4th still managed 115mph). I went way faster on a borrowed set of similar size street radials (NT05) that spun a little outta the dig, with no hop.(119mph).
Don't know what to tell you other than you're right about the sidewall needs. If you're gonna run them, run 17". If you were hopping after the 1-2 shift I can only conclude that the surface is odd or you're getting way too much weight transfer/torque split between shifts.

Not on my current Mustang, but they worked great on my '70 Mach 1. N/A 351 Cleveland 4V and C6. Totally different suspension, of course.
Not sure what the Steeda guys run on their drag 'Stang, but they would be an excellent source of info.

I think the title of this thread needs to be changed.

Oh my. This thread is something else.

You are really loving this debate it appears.

I will answer the tire question for you.

1: Nitto NT05R or 555R Drag Radials (18 psi)
2: Toyo R888 (17psi)
3: Mickey Thompson Drag Radials (18psi)
4: Hoosier Bias Ply Slick (13.5 to 14.5 psi)

A drag radial or bias ply slick. Most street tires will hop on a prepped surface regardless of what parts you throw at the IRS.

You're being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative about things that you take as gospel from general consumer reviews on general consumer tire sites that often have limited applicability to the topic being discussed or related topics (performance in a competitive environment). Find me someone tracking an Ohtsu tire. I'll wait.

The Pirelli Pzero is (at this time) an old tire design and compound that is half-decent on a road course but fairly mediocre as a street summer tire due to its operating temp range and construction. They also wear quite poorly compared with newer competitors that outperform them in every way (PSS/PS4S or Conti ECS, for instance).
BmacIL delivers on the post above ^

Many her claim the PS4 hooks better at the strip the DR's.. yet Michelin doesn't mention anywhere about those tires for drag racing.. So there's one example.
P Zero are standard equipment on some of the fastest cars on the planet. There reputation as being a world class tire is well earned.

Those who say Independent suspensions are for FWD cars.. again, the fastest cars in the world all run IRS.
Shelden Louis has the quickest IRS street driven stang in the world. Pretty sure faster then any street driven s197 too.
Actually, no. Sheldon Lewis has the 2nd quickest IRS Ford vehicle.

Jimmy Kakaletris has the quickest. Both of these are outfitted with a full BMR suspension, and aligned per my specifications - too. :)

Yeah eh.. what size tire? Cause on a 305/35R19 18 psi is not your friend.
Sometimes we have to make choices. In this case, at the drag strip, traction trumps all.

Here are my 305/35's at 16psi. They worked great on this car. I was able to side step the clutch from 5500-5900 on this combo with a few BMR parts and 420~whp.

Mine launches the exact same way as yours. What 'few' BMR parts are you using?

I would say the Sportlines on base shocks/struts is what is ruining your attempts to drag. Get a real shock strut combo in there and some better springs and I could see you getting the 60ft times down. I know the drop from the Sportlines is great, but if you're going for better performance you need a real performance spring.

I stick with Steeda because of how well each of their parts has done for me and the support they provide is amazing. Their Sport springs have a 1" drop all around which is a bit less than Sportlines, but more than what you get from BMR's offerings. They pair well with even the fixed Pro Actions. Not sure what exactly they run for the "Silver Bullet".

If you want to try BMR's combo, I believe Kelly recommends Viking for the shocks.

On the "Silver Bullet" we run the following:

Steeda Front Coilover with 125lb/in springs
Steeda Rear adjustable Pro-actions paired with Steeda Rear Drag springs.
Steeda Ultimate Stop the Hop Kit
Steeda Solid Diff bushings
Steeda Rear lower control arm spherical bearing

We set the front Coilover at full soft and have the Rear shock about a half a turn from full soft.

Is this where we start flexing our muscles? Our fastest NA cars are MUCH MUCH quicker than that one. FYI.

That pass above was one of the slower passes and sixty-foot times. That was an 11.8@115 with a 1.65 sixty-foot time.
