Hi and welcome!
I'm here to learn and share.

Backstory:
I traded my modified 2012 Subaru STi Limited for the 2020 GT Premium.

4/21/21 | 4,100 miles | $42,4k (the budget was $35k.. whoops!)

Colonial Ford Danbury provided an overall great experience with a few minor hiccups.
  • Roof stripe was damaged during the ceramic coating application. (got free trunk stripe kit as well)
  • Poorly filled paint clip found on fender at delivery day. Car was sent back and professionally repaired. (got free touchup pen as well)
  • Wrong strut tower brace was ordered. (quickly replaced)
  • Backup camera needed reprogramming. (no charge)
  • Got a call from Colonial Mazda saying that the Subaru had no cat and the Cobb AP went missing.

Why did I ditch the Subie??
  • My choice of mods made it unenjoyable to DD.
  • Maximum effort required for spirited driving (big turbo usable power range: 4400 - 7100RPM)
  • Lost ambition to perform scheduled maintenance. (Asian baby hands required)
  • Dealer can't service it (Subaru 30k service sent me home with boost & fuel leak)
  • Wife refused to ride in it after IC pipe blew on the interstate.
  • Subpair interior and obsolete electronics
  • More power please!

S550 Goals:
  • Reliable
  • Dealer serviceable âś”...else would have went Odin
  • Seasonal DD (<5k miles/yr)
  • Little to no esthetic modification âś”
  • No increase in exhaust dB ❌...Roush H-pipe; Foster whine sound tube
  • Forced induction install: $10k budget (built not bought) âś”
  • Power goal: >600 rwhp âś”

Nice ... I've always had a soft spot for that EJ boxer rumble. May still 1 day pick up a used one as a winter "fun" car when both the Mustang and the motorcycle can't fit the bill.

Niiiiiiiice! Look forward to seeing the mods and your thoughts about the car along the way. S550 is a great car for the money. I like your bike and truck also. I currently have a 2015 Ducati Street Fighter and a 2021 Tacoma TRD off road!

Oooh, a Duke 790. One on the short list I'd like to add to the ever expanding bike stable.

I recommend it. Si drive and dccd make it a lot of fun and predictable in the snow and rain. My favorite gen is the '06-'07 Hawkeye.

Try to get one with no performance modifications.
  • Subaru puts a paint mark on nearly every bolt making it very easy to tell what's been messed with.
  • Compression, leak down, and boost leak test results from a reputable shop are a must before purchasing used.
  • A subie with any engine mod (even a CAI) should come with a married (hopefully Cobb) AP and corresponding tune.
  • Blow-off valves are pointless.
  • Stay away from anything that already has TGV deletes unless the motor is built.

Hopefully the new 2.4 liters come with forged internals.

Very cool. That bike is a beast.
I leased a 2018 TRD Off Road after my 2006 got totaled. I hate the fake hood scoop on my TRD Sport.

I love the mustang so far. Getting power to the wheels is effortless. I ate a bit of $$ on the trade, but this S550 was local and had everything I wanted. The wife is a little pissed that I didn't get the 10 speed.

I don't think I'll do much else other than the Roush SC phase 2 kit, pump volt booster, and some oil catch cans. Although, the mod bug is contagious.

Roush blower on 18up is a no go. Intercooler brick is insufficient. Procharger, now that will get you taken care of!

One minor issue with the 790. Small oil leak every Spring. I'm on my 3rd valve cover gasket and not much else I can do without voiding warranty. I'm hoping it will be a recall. The new 890 is very tempting.

My first bike was the duke 390. The 790 is a huge upgrade.

Welcome Mike., nice choice of color! I take it you are local to Danbury, I can be found motoring around the NW Corner a bit. Good luck with your build!
