Saw this on reddit for a brand new Mach 1 with dealer badges. Not sure why dealerships think they have the right to do this. I have NEVER seen a car on a road with dealership ads and thought "I should go to that dealership and buy a car". It's unfortunate that I've seen these badges on other GTs, Mach 1s, and even Shelbys. Even dealer plate ads are too much. They instantly get removed whenever I buy a new car.

I’ve never had a dealer refuse to remove any lettering on request.

IMO it’s ugly but not a big deal provided they remove without damage on purchase

Id rather it not be done at all as you do run the risk of clearcoat damage anytime you are removing anything attached to the car with adhesives.

totally agree. The worst are the ones that stick stuff on and it is hard to get them off. Additionally they look terrible.

wd40 works pretty good as it does not harm the paint. For real bad one I use 91% isopropyl alcohol

I've seen some trucks from TX and other places that had metal dealer badges pop-riveted to the bodywork. One of them didn't look completely terrible, kind of like a Sheriff's star badge. I wouldn't buy one with a dealer's tag of any kind unless it comes off without damage.

Usually the dealer put them on when you trade in your car and they transfer licence plates. Never had my Ford dealer put any decals on my cars, thank god. The dealer licence plate frame lasts a week and then it goes bye bye.

Yep, if they did me well, I might keep it on till I get my real plates. Here in CA not many dealers I've seen do the decals.

Dealers do it because they know most people don't notice (or don't care). Nothing better than getting free advertising after you've bent someone over.

When buying a car, I always tell the dealer I do not want any dealer decals on it. I have never had a dealer refuse or ignore my request. I don't mind the license plate frames as I usually replace those anyway, but I object to decals on the paint.
