Today I received my Alloys from MustangMustHaves custom re-sprayed in gloss black. All day I was excited to get home and inbox and begin detailing them (I now know how women feel with new shoes!)
Stage 1:
Get home grab scissors open the boxes!
Stage 2:
Find somewhere soft to clean them I opted for outside on some beach towels, set them up ready to be hosed down!
Stage 3:
Hose down, then Shampoo wash with Rockets Cherry Shampoo, then hose off (Opted against jet wash as it'd probably knock the wheels over lol!)
Stage 4:
Next up - Dragons breath, fortunately no contamination but better safe than Sorry! This stuff stinks but can already tell it'll annihilate anything! Named dragons breath smells like it too!
Stage 5:
Clean again and dry, boring bit
Stage 6:
Gtechniq panel wipe (onto a MF towel and then onto the alloys), this stuff is strong sprayed it to test on a spare fiesta wing mirror, and erm, it stripped the paint, MF towel seems to soak up the corrosive properties, anything left, deffo was off after that!
Stage 7:
Dry again!
Stage 8:
Gtechniq C5 crystal serum. Wipe on, buff off! Easy. Apparently the best coating for alloys. Did all of them. Inside and out. lips and the barrel, whole wheel, because WHY NOT?!
Stage 9:
Open the box of cool sloganed t-shirts that came for me and the missus! Hers says "Ride my pony" mine says "My beauty is a beast" Brilliant touch MustangMustHaves
Other goodies.
The wheels came with Bore Adapters, to allow them to fit onto the stock wheel bore without any NVH added, as without them, there was a chance of added vibration.
The wheels are 19x10 rather than 19x8.5 which means they're wider than Stock alloys, practically like having spacers I'm told, Only time will tell
Locking wheel nuts (LWN) came with the alloys, look very funky, and a different locking key, but probably going to stick with the acorns and if I can the LWN from the stock car if they fit, we'll see!
Right you're bored of me talking now, here's the pictures!
(they had dust bags over them too ;)!
Ready to begin cleaning...
mid Dragonsbreath
Ass shot?
PW time!
Post PW ready for C5!
yes the C5 really was 1/10th full when it came... have complained about that!
FINISHED DETAILING!
Oh... and here's what my office now looks like...
