So that is the Mega Cap. Why would the head need replacement?

Cause the cap seats onto the head casting. It's that head casting face that's defective, hence head replacement. And as I said already, they admitted to a factory defect. Your golden.

If your tuned, no worries. As soon as Ford issued a TSB, it's all on them, not you.
Yeah, that’s not at all how it actually works. Anything short of a recall and Ford looks for any excuse they can not to cover under warranty. Modification of the pcm calibration would absolutely be a disqualifier for engine warranty work regardless of tsb or ssm. You may get different results from your dealer depending on how they operate and your relationship, but they would be operating contrary to Ford guidelines.

Confirmed my engine is in the window. Good to hear Ford's owning their mistake.

~14,500mi on mine.

I'm not sure they are really "owning their mistake". They are really just cutting their losses by telling their dealers how to most efficiently resolve the issue and keep warranty claim dollars to a minimum. A TSB or SSM does not entitle you to anything outside of the warranty period.

Fair enough.

Fair enough.
I suppose they are owning it in the fact that they are replacing the head rather than applying a bandaid software fix like they are currently doing with the similar issue on the trucks, but that problem seems to be far more widespread.

OK, so now what are the symptoms? I have had a strange bucking at low speeds. Happened a couple times in a parking lot. No codes or anything. I'm guessing I have to start throwing codes for Ford to diagnose and/or repair.

I don't need to. Nice try though.
Yah you do. This isn't a warranty claim from you, this is a TSB through a manufacturing defect from the manufacturer.

Sept 1 for me.......

That makes sense because if its a problem across all or some mustangs within the date range, it shouldn't matter if you are tuned or not.
