Ok. Just finished installing the Official Ford Sync 3 Version 2.2 on my Mustang.

My first attempt didn't go well.
I turned the car on first as the instructions suggested.
I plugged into front USB port, but nothing.
I plugged into arm rest console USB port, but nothing.
So I turned the car off, then plugged in the USB port in the arm rest console.
It took 10 minutes to finish installing, but after the install, screen prompts just flashed by.

I took my USB drive out and I got a message saying install didn't go right.
"Install paused"

After restarting my car, nothing seemed to happen, so I turned my car off then plugged USB memory device into arm rest console USB port.
I turned the car on and I got the "Updating System Software" message again.

This time it took about 12 minutes. And got the proper installation finished screen that didn't just flash away.

I went to the gas station and turned the car off to get some gas.
After restart, I got a curious new icon on the upper right hand corner. It is the down arrow in a circle.

When I poked at that, I got an installation successful screen, but that went away before I got a chance to snap a picture.

Here is my display of the software version.

And I got an "Android Auto Preference" option on the settings screen.

I haven't got the Android Auto itself working yet. Stupid AT&T for their lousy software support of my LG G Flex 2.

And yeah, I need to dust my car.

Good luck!

I forgot few things-

1. The zip file has two files and a folder. Ford's instruction shows 1 file and 1 folder. Extra file I had is called "DONTINDX.MSA". I copied that onto my USB drive, but that didn't effect the installation.

2. My car is non-Nav and it only requires one time copy of files over to the USB drive. I think the unofficial version required you to use two different zip files, so you had to do two step installation for non-Nav.
Edit: Hmm, maybe the reason I had to unplug and re-plug to have the installation successful was because it is still two step installation, but just need to copy the files over once?? Can anyone else with non-Nav chime in if you got the installation completed in one try for the Official Ford release?

3. In regards to reporting the installation back to Ford website-
I went back to Ford website to 'report' the installation.
It requires you to upload an *.xml file that gets generated into your USB memory stick.
When I select my *.xml file to upload, I get an upload error message.

The directory that Ford website generates for your file location, it points to wrong place.

I even made a directory in C: drive called "fakepath" that the Ford website keeps generating when you select the file to upload. But no dice on that either.

I guess I will need to wait until Ford figures that out and fixes it when they realize no one is reporting back successful installations.

When I just went back on Ford Owner's web page for Sync, the notice about reporting if my installation went successfully went away and it is now showing my latest update correctly.

I'm guessing that information got passed on to Ford from my Fordpass app.

And here is updated SW screenshot on this update.

Guys, I don't move over the "DONTINDX.msa" file to the USB, correct?
