My car is demonized? :cwl: Who knew? Better question.. Who cares.šŸ˜†
Besides, it canā€™t be a Demon because it isnā€™t a Dodge.
Exactly, who cares!! But Iā€™m sure you vividly remember all the ā€œparts binā€ threads on the Mach 1. Some folks on here, most no longer around, ripped the car apart. And they were sooooo wrong.

The difference is there is much more of an aftermarket now than there used to be, so people can do the same (or better) on their own or with the tuner of their choice. And usually at a significantly lower price.
And specialty companies can do less and still stay within the law and regulations. And letā€™s not forget the full manufacturers warranty. You do what Shelby has done and itā€™s possible, not a certainty, that parts of the warranty will be gone.

Well, from the reception - they're not unlocking the door and turning on the light for many people. Most folks love Pagani, koenigsegg, etc. and will never purchase one. At a minimum, I think its safe to say their marketing sucks. If the cars really are worth the money and have more development in them, their marketing isn't conveying that.
Well the door appears locked on this forum. That said I understand that SA is doing well so it seems we do not account for much. šŸ¤

No doubt, especially regarding the warranty. Just a matter of whether someone is willing to pay the price tag for that. And itā€™s a hefty price tag

I donā€™t know that Iā€™d call them trash (well, maybe the Super Snake vert that cracked, thatā€™s no good and R&D wouldā€™ve/shouldā€™ve shown that weakness early on). SA products are geared towards a very targeted market. People that want the CSM or want certain features that are Shelby exclusive (widebody package as one example). As far as performance features, yeah theyā€™re not doing something that someone canā€™t do with a blower and a tune. But the Shelby name does still carry some weight and thereā€™s value to the CSM to a certain part of the market.

As others have mentioned, what SA is doing now isnā€™t all that different than what they did back in the 60ā€™s. The difference is there is much more of an aftermarket now than there used to be, so people can do the same (or better) on their own or with the tuner of their choice. And usually at a significantly lower price.
You kind of outline the problem I have with SA as a whole. Every time SA releases some car, they tease it like it isn't just a 5.0 with a blower. The weight the name used to carry was performance, now it is resale value to an extraordinarily small percentage of the population. If this was an N/A 5.4 liter with an SLA, I'd fork over the money for it and be pretty stoked. That's what I think would be in line with the history of Shelby vehicles, not another supercharged coyote. Also, nothing against the coyote, they stay together way better than the voodoo.

Super Snakes are sold via dealerships. Donā€™t be surprised if some of these are ordered by dealerships as well. Probably not the Rā€™s, since those are being limited to 36 units.
From what I understand the R' are going to be exclusively sold by SA and the others are going to be sold by authorized Shelby dealerships. Expect adm's so $109k is wishful thinking šŸ§.

That makes sense, especially with the extremely limited number of Rā€™s

I think you nailed. Some people just want that CSM. Even if the VIN comes back as a GT from factory, the Shelby registry does have value to some folks. I considered it for my GT, although my motivation was more the looks than the CSM. Now, I can buy 90% of the package from SA at a fraction of what they charge. It really comes down to if you want that CSM or some of the exclusive parts that comes with their packages.
The CSM reminds me of the line from Tommy boy:

Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will.

Really, I think those comments are funny. Personally, I think the Mach 1 is built as though we had a cousin in Ford management who got some friend in the plant together with Ford Performance to build a special mustang.

Didn't the "parts bin" stuff from the Mach 1 come from the GT350/500 cars?

Plus Ford actually like...tested those parts on cars on the track.

Besides, none of the Mach 1/DH stuff is on the Shelby GT350, so it's a bad, bad comparison.

The mustang itself is a parts bin car. The AC Shelby Cobra was a parts bin car.
