Indeed, although I've never driven a car with them. Over here in the UK we still tend to STILL call them "wing mirrors" as the fenders are called wings here (I've no idea why though!!).....despite them now being mounted on the doors.

My personal thought is that the 8 series looks both better and more aggressive than the S550. I think BMW made the M8 what the S550 wanted to be...The BMW 8-series is a great looking car, but not as aggressive as S550.....and, hopefully, S650!
Don't count on the street car sharing much with the race car. They don't have to share that much under current GT3 rules anymore. Consider the Bently GT3 is ~2000 lbs lighter than the street car and the 911 GT3 is mid engined (and wide bodied) while the equivalent street car remains rear engined.It does need homologation yes. At least 250 cars I think sold to public. Biggest questions are:
Will the SLA suspension make it's way to the production car ?
Will the endurance racing-spec 5.0 make it's way to the aftermarket world or ford performance catalog ?
