Hey guys. I just got my tech package gt350 3 weeks ago. I love everything about the car, but have 1 question I can't seem to find an answer to.

Why is my car shutting down at 8k rpm? No matter what mode I'm in, it cuts fuel completely at 8k. The car has 2.6k miles. I bought it used with 1600 miles.

Is the car in some kind of safe mode until a service is performed? I thought rev limit was 8250?

Thanks.
I'll post pics soon. The car is magnetic grey with black stripes.

Congrats and :welcome:

If the car is not up to operating temperature it will rev limit at a lower than max RPM. When in doubt, take it in for service

Page 8 of the small Owner's Supplement book in your Owner's Manual packet:

*Redline is limited to 8000 RPM until the engine oil temperature exceeds 190°F (88°C).

Thanks. I'll check to see if it's at correct temp. Each time I've tried, it's been after 5-10 minutes of driving so I would think it is.

Btw this car is amazing!
I got out of a 700bp c6 z06 and this car is better in every way.

You can monitor the temps on your driver screen.......It takes a bit to get to 190. I've found pushing the car mildly will get temps up faster.

I'm going to try it out as soon as I get another day without rain.
I find that driving the car easy until it warms up can take about 10 mins. It depends. Pull up your oil temp screen and monitor until 190. Don't honk on it until it is up to temp.

FYI - there have reports of failed thermostats preventing cars from reaching normal operating temperature. A few people here have had theirs replaced.

Funny, when I take my car out with the kids and early in the drive one says "Daddy go fast", the other quickly retorts "He has to wait for the engine to warm up!".

Yeah the oil temp gauge is one of the first I put up on the info screen cause the green light to unlocking maximum fun is 190F+.

Congrats on the car.

But maybe this is why nearly every dyno chart we see of the Voodoo ends at 8000 rpm? People really aren't warming up the cars before a dyno run?

I just hate when it falls on its face before I shift, thinking I still have 250 more rpm to go
