I'll be running Firestone Indy 500 275/40R19. I'm on stock suspension and can't/don't want to lower it. So it stays in 3% margin from stock size.

285/35 is a great fit on a 10" square setup.
Yes but they are smaller, than the 275/40 and I want reduce the wheel gap as much as I can within that 3%.

Edit: Sorry I thought you replying to my comment. Yes 285/35 is a great size.

I'm running 285/35 also. 275/40 looks too tall to me.

The 285/35 is the same diameter as the 255/40. Either will fit. Remember, the taller tire increases ride height by the difference of the radius.

I won't say no for a couple of mm for a better front lip clearance. 😅
I know it will be slightly higher but the wheel gap will also be slightly reduce by the same amount. It's worth it for me.

Sounds good to me, I'm torn between the 2 sizes myself. I'm lowered 0.5” and I'm not sure I want to lift it back up 0.3" to close up the remaining gap. I'm thinking the extra width, and being closer to flush may make the gap appear smaller. Maybe.
Mustangs seem low if you're used to SUV height, they seem pretty high if you're used to sports cars.

Yeah, that's a hard one to answer without trying it. When I think about it, on my precious lowered cars, I only lowered them for the wheel gap not much for the ground clearance to be lower. Never thought of it that way.

If my tires get here this week I’ll try my stock 18 center caps on them and see how it goes.
The stock 18 center caps are a no-go. They are a little loose inside the wheel. I threw the SVE caps in there for now. May change them out later, not sure yet.

Probably can use a tiny bit of silicone gasket sealer (not caulking as that will eat the aluminum) to help hold them in place.
