I have read on this forum that you suppose to break in the car a 1000 miles before you drive it like you stole it. I saw this brand new mustang fully loaded on the dealer with 1052 miles and the dealer only gave me $1750 off the car. it was just the rebate offer right now. I don't know if they have that many people test drive that or someone use it as a weekend car or what.

do you think it's a good idea to buy a car like this?

thanks

NO, unless they price it accordingly.
It's a used car.
They're getting away with calling it new only because it was never registered. Whether it was used by employees or a customer, it's still used. You would just be the first registered owner.

I'm guessing it was a loaner. Assume those to be hard miles, you know almost everyone who drove it whacked the throttle. IMO, not worth a $1,750 discount on what, 30-40K, whatever it is, UNLESS it's unique and you really, REALLY just happen to like it.

Yeah I'd pass without a steeper discount. It was a car used by salesmen or management to drive around, and also potentially as a loaner. That means the entire break in period was at full throttle, lol. Which honestly isn't that bad on modern engines, but still. If I'm paying new car prices, I want to break it in myself.

Tell the salesman he has to do better than $1750 off.

I got about the same off of mine, new, and it had 2 miles on it. No zeroes at the end. That car was a weekend toy for someone at the dealership.

Get a deeper discount and don’t forget your warranty starts when you take delivery.

Mine had like 400 miles on it. I drove it pretty much like I stole it afterwards. I have none of the issues people are reporting, currently, with engine ticks or rattles. I do have an inconsistent DI tick coming from the aftermarket injectors I had installed. That being said my discount was $10K off of MSRP and was the only car in state, or any where else that I could find, like it and it was exactly what I wanted. It also set i their showroom for a long time so it wasn't in the elements in the winter.

My question is why would you even consider buying from a dealer that offers 0% discount on a car that has over 1000 miles? Maybe if it were the last Mustang on Earth but otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

yeah, I thought of it probably getting wot all those miles. msrp was $53,000. then dealer add tint, nitrogen filled tire, and some kind of bs environmental friendly crap another $1500. I told them $43,000 and they said no, so I left. the thought of that much miles on a new car make me worry longevity of the motor.

I wouldn't buy a new Mustang with 0 miles on it, for only $1750.00 off the car.

You need to shop elsewhere.

It's actually a good thing to beat on the motor right from the start.
