It’s a new article, but who knows exactly what they’re referring to…have to read the patent to be sure but they reference the s650LIKE A A DCT?
I mean that is a DCT, an electrically operated manual that alternates gears between clutches. It’s a new article, but who knows exactly what they’re referring to…have to read the patent to be sure but they reference the s650

By the way, the patent protects the idea. Most never make it past that stage. This one, who knows.
Maybe a good thing for someone that needs a hip or knee replacement. Otherwise I'd say it's either DCT or traditional manual. From what I understood, it's not a DCT, it's a normal manual trans with an automated clutch. There are sensors in the shifter that senses when you want to shift and it will release the clutch for you. Ford also plans on an override feature and also plans on keeping the 3rd pedal.
It's the best of both worlds, the driver stays engaged because he has to manually shift gears but doesn't have to operate the third pedal except when he wants.
Thanks for posting, it will be interesting to see just how Ford markets thisSounds like me....not
