The bigger the search radius the better the deal. Also keep in mind what prices are listed for online is not what you should be paying 90% of the time. I am in CT and found the best deal in VT which was only 2 hour drive each way. But I was finding dealers in CT and Mass were much more competitive once I started sharing the pricing I was getting from other states/dealers and told them I didn't see the point in spending $3-5K more for a car that is 30 minutes away vs 2 hours away.

I ended up buying in VT and used backroads on the way back and made a fun 2.5 hour drive out of it :)

Dealers are not moving vehicles right now. At this point 19 GT350's have been sitting on that dealer lot for a long time and with the economic uncertainty it's just no longer a sellers market. The reality is it has not been a sellers market on the GT350 for a year or so now unless the buyer was focused on a specific model or trim.

With regard to the OP - I can't see that price dropping by more than $1k. I've never had a dealer who wouldn't knock 500 off what it was listed at. A direct phone call to sales manager, offering 500 under list, will likely snag that car. That'd be 7500 off, and in the best price category on TrueCar (not that that's the ultimate judge). If you like that spec, I'd wrap it up.

I just managed to get $57k on a $64.5k stickered car, '19 in Velocity Blue, black stripe, electronics package, leather seat adder. Kept mostly in the showroom, 44 miles. I'm having to enclosed transport it from MI to PA for $800.

There's a car on CarGurus in Danville, PA, blue stripes over white, same sticker, that I talked down to 56k, but it had 200 test drive miles on it. I refused several 6k off MSRP offers - if you're willing to hit 60k, I'd argue you can achieve any 2019. Two Orange Furys in Ohio w/ black roof to be had under 60, both with carbon dash and leather/electronics.

I never saw or negotiated a deal in excess of 8k off MSRP, with a cash offer and enclosed transport, sight unseen. I'd have thought I could get more.

Looking forward to the car!

I generally agree with you, but the ~8 dealers I called had Sales Managers too stubborn to admit this just yet. I imagine it's coming, but lots of them wouldn't budge more than 6k off MSRP. Anecdotal evidence in the PA/OH area as of mid-April, subject to change with the coming carpocalypse.

First post, and here's my story.

First rule: I'm willing to travel for a deal when it's worth it. Cars in my city are expensive and dealers don't really negotiate on halo vehicles. One unnamed dealership treated me as if it would be a privilege for me to be allowed to buy such a special car, even though it was the wrong color, the wrong specification, and non-negotiable at MSRP.

I started shopping online for my preferred spec GT350 in November. I was looking for a 2019 as the upgrades from 2018 were worth it. It did not bother me to buy the one-year older 2019, instead of a 2020, as I'll have the car for awhile. If I were to sell it in a few years, that would be a mistake, but if I trade or sell the car in four to six years, the difference in depreciation for a 2019 vs 2020 would be small.

Second rule: I'll only work with dealers that are easy to work with. IOW, real price commitments within a few minutes of the telephone call or 24-hr reply to online inquiries. I'll only travel to buy a car if I have an unsigned purchase order in my hand when I walk in the dealership.

I found my perfect car for $66,400 MSRP in Wisconsin. Internet sale price was $59,000. I had been watching similar cars for a month and it looked like they were selling when they dropped to ~ 10% off MSRP. I think I could have probably worked the price down a few hundred dollars but that wasn't worth losing the exact car I wanted. I flew for $49, spent one night in a hotel, and drove the car home. Totally worth it. I had the advantage of getting the engine break-in and bedding of the brakes taken care of in one long day.

Pros of my purchase: buying a car like this in a northern state in the winter will save money. The same car would be more expensive now without COVID.
Cons of my purchase: I could beat the price maybe $1000 -$1500 if I were to buy it now in the middle of coronavirus. No way to have know that in February so I don't feel bad. Car financing would be cheaper now.

Quick update guys. The dealer I was working with in South NJ did not want to budge on the 59k price on the 2019 Shelby GT350. Looked around a bunch on Autotrader and found one listed about 2.5 hours away from me in PA (I am in NJ). Dealer was great to work (all correspondence via email and phone since the dealership was shut due to state issued Covid 19 order). Settled on a 2020 Black Shelby GT350 for 59k. It had all the options I wanted. Just picked up the car yesterday and drove it up.

Pretty stoked it's a 2020, the Shadow Black paint with the black wheels looks amazing. Want to give a shout out to Twin Pine Ford, they were super professional and friendly when we picked the car up, its a family run business which I also like supporting. Really psyched to share some photos soon, its been raining here the last 24 hours

Will post some photos of the "Batmobile" when it clears up.

For perspective, in January I visited a dealership in Northern NJ that had a 5k markup on a 2020 Shadow Black GT350 leading the price to be $70,000 (excl taxes etc) rendering it out of my budget completely, the customer service was pushy making the customer feel like if I didn't buy it for $70k there was something wrong with my decision making. 4 months later I got the same car for $6k UNDER for $59,000 (excl taxes etc) with a dealership with great customer service and super friendly staff. Shout out again to Twin Pine Ford, I recommend them to anyone looking for a great car buying experience.

Again, stay tuned for some photos coming up soon! Stoked to be part of the GT350 family.

I just picked up my 2019 GT350 Shadow black a week ago and drove it 1400 miles back to my house. I paid just under $59K on right at $66K in car. Fully loaded, carbon fiber dash, handling package, leather seats and car cover.

I had made offered on two R's and two regular GT350's. One dealer in the Seattle area came back with an offer of $4K over MSRP. The other north of Seattle offered to increase their price by $2K because I was not trading in a car. There was an R in Moses Lake, WA that was offered at almost $7K under msrp and I missed it by minutes, another at a small dealership in Washington that disappeared. A Shadow black in the Seattle area where the dealer pulled it to keep for himself.

I went thru several cars and declined a 2 owner car with 2K miles, a lemon law buyback Shadow black and a Kona Blue '18 because it had stripes.

The Kona Blue 2018 car is at Gus Johnson Ford in Spokane Valley, WA, it is a Ford Certified used with an 8 year, 100K mile warranty and only 3400 miles on it, a great looking car and that warranty makes it interesting. Not that I'm selling cars, but it is interesting.

Hey neighbor! I called on that car in early March, pre-pandemic, offered $52k OTD. They basically told me to f'k off.

I've been shopping what's left of the 2019s, and know who has what left in the PNW. I've called on two, offering $59k for roughly $66k MSRP. Both said that they wouldn't go under invoice ($62,500-ish), and the one in OR told me that they've never heard of a GT350 sell for below invoice.

Funny, because AutoNation Bellevue has one for $60k, nearly $6k off.

I'm to the point of looking at having one shipped from the Midwest.

Well hi back. I'm at Gus right now getting my first overpriced oil change. Yes, Gus Johnson was not interested in finding a no stripe car and the Kona Blue is sitting in the service entrance.

There is a Shadow Black in Bellingham with no handling package for 59.9 and they wouldn't go lower for me. So I went east. Shipping is anywhere from 1200 to 2100 depending on the quality of the shipper. I passed because of the lack of guarenteed delivery dates.

I used the Ford.com find my vehicle function and searched 100 mile radius of various locations until I found mine.

There is a black with white stripes for 56k in North Dakota that I saw in my search.

I am in a similar situation as the OP (before his purchase). I am located in the Tri-State area and have began searching for a suitable GT-350. I am not having any luck within 200 miles of me.

I found a reacquired (lemon law buyback) vehicle. It is a 2019 with less than 500 miles and has all of the options I am looking for. I contacted the dealership and they provided me with documentation showing that the engine was replaced after it spun a bearing. The new engine has 32 miles on it. Asking price is about $12K under msrp.

How comfortable would you guys feel buying a Lemon law buyback vehicle, knowing that the title is labeled as such forever.

I offered on this one and they said nope. It does not have carbon fiber or the handling pkg. But, it is one of the only reasonable priced ones in the state. I looked at a black 2019 at Heller Ford in Illinois, it was lemon law returned for peeling paint under the hood and they bought it at auction, it was low 50's and disappeared quickly. They currently have a 2017 on their site for 42K.

The lemon law thing worried me because of the trouble selling it and the discounted price didn't seem low enough. You lose the Track Attack if you are not the original owner, that's $2K dollars right there and I want to do it. You lose some warranty and you lose probably 10-15% on resale. So $12K off should put you at $53-ish? And full factory warranty? If you go for this car, still give it 1000 break-in miles under 4,000 rpm and then an oil change before you decide to find 8250. Betting a brand new motor to death in 500 miles isn't an accomplishment. Maybe ask them to throw in five oil changes? From the dealer they are $150-200 each.

I don't think we need to be samies, but if you had an interest in this Shadow Black GT350 in Bellingham, they might be interested in talking. I was dealing with a lady via email and they had my low offer and were aware I had three other offers out there and the first guy to say yes, won. They were feeling like a drop to $59K "might be possible" but with the socialists shutting down dealers couldn't sell the car.

I've let them know I found my car elsewhere. They were literally one of the only dealers in Washington state to promptly reply. They did seem willing to work under msrp. The Bellingham car is a later '19 and the Auto Nation car is an early '19 and if it didn't have stripes, I'd own it now.
