Welcome to the club ! I sold my 2007 911 Turbo this spring to buy an 2016 GT350R. Much happier with a NA rear wheel drive car versus AWD Turbo, especially at the track
And the longer wheelbase and magneride makes for much better daily driver.

You will find a lot of former 911 and //M car owners here. There are very few high reviving naturally aspirated cars now. The Voodoo is a very special engine right up there with the best from Munich and Stuttgart.
Yes it is, I am amazed at the engine...it’s something that has to be driven to be understood!

I also came from a 911. Researched the GT350 for awhile before I decided to make the change. I personally like the 911 a little more as an all around driver. The GT350 is also a great car, haven't tracked it yet and that may sway me more to the 350. Love the R congrats on the new car.

Beautiful car! I am also a previous 911 driver (a bit older than your Porsche tho) and now am back in a Mustang where I feel at home.

Congrats! Enjoy!
Same here, I joined the Mustang fold and left it back in 2006. Bought a convertible and installed a Saleen supercharger. Sold it six months later because I didn’t like the convertible. Got one single bid on it on eBay from a guy who fly down from Canada. I asked him if he was worried about putting all those miles on it and he said that part was going to be the best part of the whole purchase...the drive home lol.

Awesome story and welcome! I'm actually looking at picking up a 991 for a DD. Keeping the GT350 for a weekend/track car.
Do it!!! I haven’t told my wife yet but that’s also what I want to do for the future too, at which point we are going to need a bigger garage!

Not sure how wide your "wide butt" is, but I can tell you that I am a 38" waist and I fit fine in mine, but I had to ditch the George Costanza wallet and either keep it in the center console or switch to a skinnier form factor wallet. I ended up doing the latter after a few months and I fit just fine now.
We are probably about the same size. I have a small stripped down front pocket money clip wallet so that’s not a problem. I’ve heard that the seat side bolsters flatten/soften out a little over time?

I am dying to get to the track but will obviously go through the proper break in procedure and do an oil change before doing so. If anyone in Houston wants to do a track day I have a member who can get us in on certain track days at MSR.

Nice to know about the DD part, but it’s going to take a long time to get over Porsche...the rumble therapy of the GT350 is certainly helping through!

Congrats on the R! You got a sweet deal.
I recently went a slightly different direction and added a car to the stable. TBD if/when I sell the R ... I need the physical space more than the money, and I still love it fiercely. But I couldn't pass up a clean air-cooled car for the price I got.

lol. Curious to know how big/small the brothRhood is?Anyone know the build ratios per year?
You have definitely joined a rather exclusive club!

I had these numbers jotted down from earlier research before my purchase:

2015: Base=100 R=37 Total=137
2016: Base=5643 R=526 Total=6169
2017: Base=5943 R=905 Total=6848
2018: Base=3745 R=633 Total=4378
2019: According to a call with FP just days ago they're still finalizing the numbers
2020: Base=1960 R=840 Total=2800***

*** - FP announced these capped amounts with the 2020 Shelby enrollment program. Now whether the Heritage Edition will catch fire and cause them to rethink and produce more - who knows?

So the ratio with the numbers we have is approximately one R built for every six Bases...
