Ive had the new 2018 mustang gt with the 10 speed transmission for about 5 days now and Ive noticed it has slight wine sound. You can hear it a bit more with a slight rev. I was wondering if thats normal for this new engine or is it a pulley issue? Ill upload a video in a bit.

Mine does the same. I read a couple of folks on this forum say the same. It seems to be normal. Should it sound this way? I dont think so but thats how it is for now.

I thought it might be a pully or alternator. If you figure out what it is please do update us.

Definitely sounds like something associated with the belt drive.

I'll let you know on my drive home if my car makes the same noise. I do hear some whining almost like a turbo spooling but not sure if it is as audible as yours.

My 2018 does whine a bit inside the cabin when I'm moving but I didn't hear anything while in neutral.

I would take it in.

OP, please update us if you do end up taking it to the dealer. I have the whine but it is not as loud as yours but I am very curious what the cause could be.

Same whine on my GT 10Speed. Seems to be mostly between 1200 and 2500 RPM. Car runs fine... Sounds kind of nice actually... Any 6Speeds with the noise or is it only on the Autos?

It also does have a sound of a turbo spooling on mine as well along with the whine.

I noticed this exact same noise in my 18 GT 10-speed auto yesterday. Assume it's normal since it's running fine and others here have the same noise. I'm curious as to what it is though.

Both of the cars I test drove and the one I bought did and do this - It sounds like the trans, but doesnt sound like its something functioning incorrectly. I only hear it when I get on it though...

ill add in here that i had a similar whine in an older 5spd auto 2010 mustang that progressively got louder turned out to be the transmission needed a rebuild planetary gear failed with 65k miles on it

I did not bother taking this issue to the dealer. I am afraid in order to find the source, they will rip apart the entire drive-line/transmission and create more issues. It is not so loud anymore than when the car was new (4k miles now).
