Tires - What tires are guys running for autox and road course track days? I see a few tires in 18" diameter sizes on TireRack, but nothing in 19"? What are the popular 'stang R compounds?

Wheels - Also, I assume some 18x10" wheels fit over the huge 6 piston '15-'16 PP brakes? What are some relatively lightweight cheap track-only wheels? (I don't care about the look so much as the price and weight in track day wheels.) I suppose the 19" could get converted for track duty with some 19s or 20s for road use if there are some good 19" R compound tires available.

Its been a few years since I've been around a track, and after a couple of autocrosses on the stock 19" PP wheels and Pirelli P Zeros, I may need to pickup some dedicated tires so the road rubber doesn't get shredded.

After you drive it a few times...youll be ready to burn the P Zeros in the back yard. I just put 19x9.5 SVE Drift wheels on mine with RE11s in 285/35 on mine for track and some street duty.

Hey first off congrats on the new ride and welcome to the board ! If I may I would like to provide some info for you based on some setups I have done for members.

First OEM Specs

19x9 & 19x9.5 OEM wheel weights are 33.5 lbs no tire, so based on this you will be able to shed some serious unsprung weight with these selections below.

Tires.

Personally I really really like the Bridgestone Potenze RE-71R those suckers are stickey they are rated as a 200AA treadwear and god damn they work like a 100AA treadwear. I've done a number of setups for members using this rubber for Autocross events and nationals and they have all told me they love them, they stick and a few of the guys won actually running these tires. So I highly recommend them 285/35/19 tire sizing

Wheels

You have a few choices. Since the GT PP has the large 6 pot brembos your limited in options to a few low pressure cast and the rest are rotory forged/ flow forge/ forged design.

Here are some options

18" confirmed to work

HRE FF15 18x10 or 18x10.5 square ( the 10.5 you need extended studs and a 10-15 mm spacer upfront)

The HRE are on the pricey side but their awesome

Forgestar CF5 18x10 sqaure ( super affordable)

for tires you can run a 305/35/18 easily no issues what so ever ( toyo R888) or 295/35/18 as well.

19"

HRe FF15 19x10 square or 19x10/11 combo

MRR FS01 19x10 or 19x10/11

The MRR FS01 and the HRE wheels once again are on the higher end for options in price point but their worth it if justified for you, the FS01 are completely custom machined on order and finishes on order ( turn around is super fast 7 working days)

MRR M350 ( 19x10 square) these are wheels I personally developed and designed with MRR Design they are mustang specific so hubcentric, take OEM sensors and center caps

Weight came in at 23.5 lbs

The other options are low pressure cast and are a bit heavier

MRR VP5 or MRR GF9

Let me know If I can personally help you out and or answer any questions for you.

as in if you get 18x10 cf5's you can get both wheels and tires for under 2400. Less if you don't want a really sticky tire like R888's or MPSS.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look into some of those options.

Is that with rubber or without?
That is without rubber, if your looking for a good tire you can use for on and off the track you will be spending around the 1k and up mark easily, a track/street setup with sensors depending on rubber could be upwards of 3k mark.

But if your looking for a 18" setup that you can use just on the street then you have a wider range of great bang for the buck street tires.

Yep, mpss in 285 are 1200. 295 just under 1300. R888s in 295/30/18 are just under 1100. That's about the cheapest your gonna find a good set of tires and that's without shipping.

We seem to have different definitions for "Super affordable" :(
