Other than looks. I think the current wheels handle well. Is there any down side to them being as small as they are on this car?The factory tire for that rim is 255/40/19
255mm wide with a 102mm thick sidewall (255mm X 0.4).
The tire you have now is 245mm X 0.35 so the sidewall is 86mm thick.
This means you've increased the wheel gap by 0.67in.
Also, since performance pack rims have different tires mounted the front and rear, the wheel gaps appear different due to the sidewall being 102mm in the front and 110mm in the rear.
You need the factory tire size for it to look more correct. Just changing to a 40 series tire isn't enough.
No problem. As I said to Dan, not everybody understands all the tech talk. You asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer. So much for asking the "gods".Thank you sir. sorry if i came across defensive. I just came from another car forum where the people were lets say less than helpful or friendly. so I guess i took some of the comments as here we go again. Thank you for your input that is most helpful.
Sorry to break it to you but someone has done donuts in your car to hit 1.79 lateral G's lolBut I was not doing donuts I was on a road driving. I was in no way spinning tires. And it was not a flat surface these are well banked roads. Again this isn't what this post is about and I wasn't bragging so to speak, I was about the tires but not the Gs. I was just saying I was happy with the tires other than size. Maybe the meter is wrong I dont know. but im not trying to fool anyone or make a story up as the Gs was not the point of this post. I think people are focusing on the wrong thing here i just want advice on the tires not to debate my g meter reading.
We're done with the gforce conversation. We've moved on to only tiresBetter way to describe it is the first number is the width of the tire, the 2nd number is the height of the sidewall, 3rd number is the rim size the tire is meant for. I like 295 35 20 on the rear with 275 40 19 fronts, takes up the wheel well gap very well and handles great. Need 1 inch spacers or custom wheels on the front and custom wider rear wheels though for this. The middle number is also a proportion of the first number so a 315 35 20 is going to be taller than a 295 35 20.

If you like the way it handles then the only down side is looks. There is nothing wrong with keeping it that way, it's just an odd matchup I don't think we have seen before.Other than looks. Your wheels are just fine. And by the way 255-275/40R19 are "not" small.Other than looks. I think the current wheels handle well. Is there any down side to them being as small as they are on this car?
well they must of done it in the first 11 miles cause i bought it with new with 11 miles on the odometer. But nothing would surprise me. Only reason i thought it was legit was because the 1.79 was on the left side meter and the right was something like 0.98 made sense to me because most of the turns were right hand turns throwing weight left and two of those turns i hit rather hard one actually scared me a bit LOL. but again not about that. IM gonna reset and hit that road again though to see was most likely a fluke.Better way to describe it is the first number is the width of the tire, the 2nd number is the height of the sidewall, 3rd number is the rim size the tire is meant for. It's always been about the gap.My issue.... look at that gap (pics below) on the front.... it looks like i have a spare tire on the front LOL. I like the back it looks great.
OK i guess just looking at them compared to the back they look tiny I appreciate everyones input. IM coming from a 20 year absence in the mustang v8 world and everything has changed so much. I been driving little hondas for the last 2 decades so you can understand my confusion lol. Ill catch up quick.Your wheels are just fine. And by the way 255-275/40R19 are "not" small.
Ahh, I've seen this before. I don't know if it is something with the testing process, but some Mustangs come with impossible G readings from the factory. Reset it and things should be more normal.well they must of done it in the first 11 miles cause i bought it with new with 11 miles on the odometer. But nothing would surprise me. Ha yeah fords quality control was just making sure I got a good one. By um taking it out to lunch to test it.Ahh, I've seen this before. 1.79 is interesting, but only bc my car, when I picked it up with 8 miles on it also had 1.79G on the dash. I wonder if that's some sort of default number they come with. There's no way the cars are capable of that number.Seriously we were both amazed me and my buddy both. But hand to god its what the g force thingy said. Yes I said thingy. I finally hit my 1000 break in and I was giving it hell. It is mountain roads around here they are banked faily well. Guess I just hit one just right.
