Yes, the plastic o-ring flew out of the car swapping out the reverse lockout collar. Can't find it online or in any parts catalog. Hoping to find one or even a rubber grommet equivalent.

if i recall correctly the leather boot ‘hardware’ slips over that and then the knob over that, correct?
i replaced my plastic two-piece-glued boot hardware with the one-piece aluminum aftermarket piece.
installing the boot assembly involves clicking it to the lower white collar , the lower fragile not-sold-separately collar.
i realized that i left the white ring off. afraid to damage one of the few ‘gripper fingers’ on tge lower white collar i left it as-is.
now my ford carbon fiber aftermarket knob clicked on the aluminum boot hardware. to fix it i purchased from mcmaster-carr a roll of 1/2” wide uhmw very slippery tape.
i removed the knob and wound the exactly perfect amount of tape around the top of the boot hardware to stop the click while still allowing the boot hardware to be freely lifted for reverse gear.
does this help in the event you cannot find one?

One, or two (to get near the original stack height) generic o rings would probably work.

If you have some calipers take some measurements :

  • The o ring inside diameter needs to provide just a little friction on the outer diameter of the shaft.
  • The o ring outside diameter needs to suit the inside bore diameter of the shift collar (allowing for the expansion from the slight undersizing noted above).

If I still had mine in pieces, I could have helped you with sizes ...

Also make sure the roll pin is centered in the shaft :like:

Hope you get it sorted :like:

i forgot to mention, i blamed the aluminum boot hardware but i had interference with the roll pin, a few passes with a file took care of that, based on your statement perhaps i needed only to slightly move it to true center.

Yeah either way would work, it only needs to hold the spring down and not contact the inside of the collar.

Ford provided some clearance slots for the roll pin in the standard plastic collar - I can only guess to allow for a certain amount of factory tolerance / misalignment.

I only looked for this problem as I bought a second hand shift collar, and thought 'that can't be right' ... :

Fortunately my pin was centered, and hidden under the diameter of the white spacer (see picture on my first post) :like:

based on your first photo, perhaps you can determine tge white washer dimensions based on the known dimensions of the roll pin.
just slightly ‘wider’ than the pin, thickness based on the photo of tge pin along with an actual measurement ( exact thickness might not be a critical dimension), i would look for delrin or ptfe washers, either should be slippery, delrin may be stiffer, one piece would be preferred, but thinner ones stacked could maybe work…mcmaster-carr should have what you need…and don’t forget about approaching this from the metric perspective, it could provide a more precise fit.
