First of all: If you guys remember I toasted my radio but got a used one from eBay and everything runs and well to go! I will be upgrading my four speakers (2x Front, 2x Rear) and the tweeters. I will also purchase a subwoofer with custom built enclosure for my mustang. I will provide photos and specification of the products. I currently have stock Sync system. I am very new to this audio setup, so please explain it as simple as it can be. Thank you for your patient. I try to provide as much information as i can but please let me know if i can provide anything else.

Things I will do:

My Questions:

  • My tweeters and woofers are connected together and powered together according from the electrical diagram? Whats the best way to power the tweeters? Active? Passive? Etc? Where do i physically plug them?
  • I hear stuff about the mustangs making fake engine sound/noise and its amplified if you have aftermarket speaker setup. How can that be turned off?
  • Also hear about subwoofer will be hissing when the engine is off, i forgot the term but it can be turned off i just cannot rember what it was?
  • Are there any other advise/tips to prepare me and make this smooth as it can be?

  • My tweeters and woofers are connected together and powered together according from the electrical diagram? Whats the best way to power the tweeters? Active? Passive? Etc? Where do i physically plug them? Depends on your budget: active more expensive but has more configuration options. Mine is active all connecting at the dsp.
  • I hear stuff about the mustangs making fake engine sound/noise and its amplified if you have aftermarket speaker setup. How can that be turned off? I believe that is only in the ecoboost
  • Also hear about subwoofer will be hissing when the engine is off, i forgot the term but it can be turned off i just cannot rember what it was? Never heard of this
  • Are there any other advise/tips to prepare me and make this smooth as it can be? You're already doing that...research like crazy. I did and read for over 6 months before I made all my decisions.

should I disable center speaker? I hear many things about it sounding crappy and messing aftermarket setup

where should I tap for my sub? Should I tap Rear or front speaker? Seems like the sync Bluetooth voice coming from the front speaker. Is it better tap in front?

I have no center speaker and if you have a base GT, you don't either. It's not needed especially if you're upgrading the rest of the speakers and even especially ,ore if you go with a dsp since you can customize the crap out of your sound with one.

I have a harness built by HarnessByHextall (you can PM @HextallS550) that gives me line out RCA from head unit to the dsp, then rca's for each channel from dsp to the two amps.

I’m thinking of getting dsr1 by foresgate. Will this be compatible for for a base 6 speaker setup? Will I have to do modifications forescan?

I think you need to get away from the is it compatible for a base 6 speaker....it sounds like you're changing everything except the head unit so the only "compatibility" issue is how you are connecting head unit to amps. It looks like what you picked has a "ford" harness, I would just be sure that it truly is plug and play (my RCA harness from Hex is plug and play). There are many dsp's out there, just research the software that goes with it to see which you'd be the most comfortable with. Again, I researched for six months, watched many videos, read lots of threads.

The DSR1 can be used as a standalone unit with high-level input from your 6 speaker setup. But if you do some minor modifications on the ACM with forscan you have a variable line output almost without any equalizing of the signal as input to the DSR1. In either way you are using the DSR1 as standalone unit and do not use the Maestro AR part of that device.

hey can you tell me more about the dsr1? I am new to this. Do I have to modify ACM using forescan to take advantage of dsr1? Can run it without modifying the ACM? if I do modify the ACM what are the settings I will
Be changing?

The DSR1 is a Maestro AR and a Rockford Fosgate 360.3 DSP in one device.
The Maestro AR part only works with the corresponding wire adapters that attach to the connectors of your factory amplified system (which you don't have!).
The DSP part of the DSR1 gives you the ability to set active crossovers, do time alignment of the separate channels, do equalizing on each output channel and stuff like that just like every other DSP does.

For ForScan please check this forum. There is a sticky thread where all the necessary changes are contained in. And yes, this is some work to do, but spoonfeeding doesn't teach you anything. ;)
And yes, you could run the DSR1 without any changes to the ACM by feeding the high level signals to the DSR1 (there is a switch on the side on the DSR1 to choose between line level and high level output of the source device).
For more information just check the several videos on the DSR1. I recommend the 5starcarstereo video on youtube for that device. It's a 2-part series about the DSR1. Part 1 is about all the possible ways to integrate it into your system, part 2 is about the configuration of the device.

In addition search for the T-harness video on their channel as well. They specifically show how to do a T-harness with a Ford ACM in this video.

If doing High level to the amps/DSP use the front channels. As far as i know the rears in the 6-speaker configuration have some kind of bass roll-off.
Still it would be better to reprogram the ACM to variable line level and defeat the stock EQ, too.
This way both front and rear channels from the radio will carry full range signals.
