I don't want to name any names, so I will label tuners as A and B. Here's my scenario.

Tuner A tuned my original setup after getting the Paxton with ID1050X. During initial idle/neutral rev logs, they mentioned how the a/f was richer than they expected on 91 octane. They made adjustments, tune was fine until burning out my OEM fuel pump.

I recently switched to a Sai Li return system, and switched to Tuner B. Starting off on E85, I set fuel pressure to what they wanted. 50psi at idle with vac line off the regulator. Tuner B is also perplexed at why my initial logs are so rich. Even after removing 10% fuel, it's still rich. Tomorrow I'm going to be pulling the injectors to make sure the part number on the injector is actually the 1050x and not something else.

Is there anything else I should be looking at? I find it interesting that both tuners have the injector data for these, but it's still rich. They didn't give me anything else to go on besides double check the injectors.

Setup:
Paxton with 3.8" pulley
Boss IM w/light port job
JLT CAI
SP off road headers
ID1050X
Sai Li Fuel System/E85

Pull an injector and take a peek at it should tell the tale if you're not able to tell you can shoot us a serial number

Not sure who your tuner is/was… I will tell you that Sai tuned a friends car and I am very impressed. He takes his time and will get you to log as many times as it takes to get the best performance and drivability. He will price the tune and tune it until it's right. Not offer package levels.. I am a firm believer that when you pay for something you should get their best.. Sai will tune your car and it will be right!

Injectors are indeed 1050x as engraved on the injector body. Rechecked fuel pressure and it was maybe 50.5 or so instead of 50. I doubt a half psi would cause it to run as rich as they said. I'll wait for their response.

Yeah if they can't get it figured out I'll ask for a refund and go see him.

Doubt its a tune issue. If 2 respected tuners get the same data and have a similar outcome. Paying for another tune will be a waste of money.

Tuner A was able to tune it at the end of the day. They just were surprised at how rich it was initially on the original setup. If it’s not a tune issue, what is it? Injectors are right. Pressure is right. After that, it’s the tune.

Tune only calculates the info its given and adjusts from the signals of several things..mass air, o2, injectors, and fuel pressure also plays a role in AFR. If for example you had a bad o2 sensor the tune cant operate with faulty info.

The O2 sensors are fine. It could be a MAF error, but that could also be in the tune.

I am also currently tuning my car and only have 91 octane also since im in CA, I ordered a meth kit from snow and hopefully that will help with some knocking happening at WOT at 7200 rpms. Do you think this return fuel system help me out? I don't plan on going E85 simply because I don't have it here. So bottom line, will a return fuel system help with the knocking even though I will continue to use 91

thanks
