The previous owner probably liked to "black out" the car when his shenanigans involved police intervention. That seems to be a thing lately.

Or... it was just the front mount gatlin' gun.

That isn't anything new. In the '80's I had the tail lights & tag lights hooked up to the dash dimmer of the headlight switch, So I could dim/turn off the tail lights and haul ass to an exit to beat getting a ticket. Was worth it. many times over. And back then it was just a ticket. Today the impound cars, I can see why they add a switch to kill the lights.
