Well, finally got to have another go at top speed runs. Day didn't pan out as i expected.

When i got in the car this morning to set off the clutch pedal wasn't coming all the way back up. Had to put my foot under and lift it. It then stayed up and behaved.

Once on the runway it was pulling ok but at high rpms in both 4th and 5th the clutch was starting to slip. It finally gave up on my 4th run at around 150 mph, i went from 4th to try for 5th and it would not engage.

Car is now sat in my garage waiting for a Mcleod RST clutch and flywheel to arrive.

Well, pulled the box.

it’s safe to say that it was slipping.

Understood, just saying . . . .

BTW, there is a 214+ mile out there. Keep wrenchin' !
I’m sure the record so far for an s550 is circa 250mph so far.

Right update from yesterdays speed runs.

Day didn't start off too great as it rained right at the start.
First 3 runs were in the wet and on the third run the car shredded the blower belt as i came off the runway.
I was running a 2.7 griptec pulley but it was still slipping. On the last runs i was on a 2.8 griptec and it turns out that was slipping and stopping me revving past 7500 rpm. Same again on these runs.

After the belt let go i swapped back to the stock 3 inch pulley and belt just to see if the car would go past 7500 rpm in 5th.

Well, it did.

Not in 1 mile but roughly 1.2/1.3 miles i managed 201.2 mph and then 202.9 mph at 8000 rpm in 5th gear.

I'm now waiting on an extra idle pulley kit from Seth White on the Facebook Edelbrock page to ship out an other kit. The first is in limbo with USPS now for over 3 weeks and looks to be lost.

I will give it another go to try and set a good mile speed once the extra idle kit is on. I think the car can give 195-197 on the mile.
Then I'm going to swap to a taller tyre and see if i can go over 205 mph.

Weather from the first 3 runs. Was a little bum twitching.

speeds from all 6 runs. Was a bit disappointed due to the belt slip and weather.

Been waiting for the update, after the clutch failure.

Excellent job!
Just scrolled to the top to check the thread title.
Yup! You did it, 200+ mph in your Mustang.
Great achievement!

It's a great story & a very quick car.
Congrats!
:like:

I chuckled at what came up next after watching the video;
