This is about as close as I can get to a back-to-back pic.
I didn't reed through all 9 pages of this post, so I am not sure what your final decision is (or if you even made one), and while I typically would go for black on red, based on these back-to-back, I am definitely digging the chrome.

Likewise, I didn't have time to read the whole thing but since opinions were requested, here's mine:
I've always LOVED Black Chrome. Can those babies be tinted or re-chromed? I think darkening them would be the PERFECT combo. It would mute the current "bling" and add darkness to go with the trim of the car.
Just remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Alright everyone - my grand idea and vision in my head may not have necessarily played out. They're here, ceramic coated, and gorgeous... Though it's such a drastic departure from what aggressiveness and anger the car had previously - now it's just more calm, classy, and we'll - I kinda feel underwhelmed.

They're the factory Ford 10.5/11 HP wheels, sent to California for some chrome, with that PS4S's (which are amazing by the way over the PSC2's).

They're fantastic, beautiful, bright, perfect condition, just... I'm not sure this is what I was looking for. Though here they are.

Please let me know what you think. I may be switching back sooner than I had anticipated. Maybe they'll grow on me. Maybe they won't. I have a set of the Platinum finished ones too sitting in boxes. Shit at this point maybe black would have been the ticket?

Maybe the factory color is the way to go. Never know unless we try, right?

Looks great to me, can’t stand the black wheels myself. They make a car look cheap. Back in my day if you couldn’t afford nice wheels you painted the stock steel wheels black. Wheels should be admired not blend into the tires like you are trying to hide them.

I think in this size view photo they look absolutely fantastic. I hear what you are saying and I have not responded for a few days because I wanted to keep seeing them. I think you will enjoy them after a little time. They bring out the details of the wheels and make the red pop even more. Black will hide the details, I think. I hope they grow on you, but I really think they bring some class to the car and really look great.

…and dressed them up with trim rings (back in the day)…

I honestly wasn't showing an S550 specific wheel, I just typed "Black Chrome" in Google and selected images. It was one of many that popped up. It was just to represent my idea of what would look good on your car.

Ever since I was a kid in the 70's & 80's when I saw my first Porsche 911 Carerra RS, I loved the black out center with bright rim design.

But, that was just historical perspective identifying my age, and since this is a Mustang Forum 😏, I'll equate that to the Bullitt wheels which are sweet looking to me.

If I could find some take-off's, I'd get them for my 20 GT Convertible. I Got the Blackout package because I preferred the style of rims that it came with but for some reason they look too narrow on the car. Even compared to other OEM rims with the same width, they don't look as wide. Maybe it's because they are 19"?
Oh well, this isn't my thread, so I digress...

I have a HP Race Red Mach 1 and I love the factory wheels and the chrome is beautiful but... makes the car look happy not mean and aggressive.

I love them! Would have never thought I would but they add class to the car and I don’t think they take any of the aggressiveness away. Very sharp! You could always do the same color as mine but I think the chrome look better on red.

I have a set of the HP wheels also in a polished version from a wheel replica site (can't recall which) that are sitting in boxes...along with these chrome ones. I think I am gonna stick with the factory wheels for a while.

I most likely could, though I've not tried as of yet for unknown reasons - I guess I'm still on the fence, though I am currently riding on the factory wheels.

I went back to them, so not at this time. The Chrome could be available if you were interested.
