As a number of you have seen already from other posts, the Shelby GT350 was out in the Detroit area for the Woodward Dream Cruise celebration weekend. I attended an open house at MRT in Plymouth on Friday, Mustang Alley in Ferndale on Saturday, and Mustang Memories on Sunday. I saw these cars all 3 days.

Photos and commentary follows...

FRIDAY EVENING, after the MRT Open House

A car buddy who traveled with me spotted these Avalanche Grey and Triple Yellow cars. Since I had my '15 GT, I tried to line up the fronts to show the differences in the angles of the front noses. Hard to tell from the photos how much the difference is, and I didn't have a tape measure with me :) However, in person, it is clear the top of the nose drops off in the GT350 as compared to my GT. Also, the upper grille is shorter on the GT350. These were taken with a camera phone.

SATURDAY, Mustang Alley

At the main entrance, there was a white GT350R (same as posted in other threads). This is my top choice with the blue stripes - "old guy" choice, perhaps. Making it even more old guy, I plan on thin blue stripes in the same design at the original 1965 package with no "GT350" lettering since it already has the emblem.

I also finally got to sit in the Recaros (this was in a red GT350R located near the Ford Performance tent on the grounds). I know others have done so, but as pointed out in some other threads, these Recaros appear to have more upright angled thigh bolsters than the ones for the EcoBoost and GT. I was wondering if I would fit (6'2", 235 lbs, 38" waist, 32" inseam) and feel uncomfortable with the seat bottoms. I am happy to report I did NOT. I talked to one of the engineers there who said the thigh bolsters were soft enough that they should not be uncomfortable and more of the bolstering was for the torso, which is what is needed for road course driving. I believe what he said, as I felt secure in the torso area. I'd be just as happy with the Tech Pack seats, but the Recaros were workable. Since I would use my car as a weekend driver and maybe an autocross or occasional HPDE, I could travel and not be in bad shape. The photos are where the sides of my legs fit. I thought I might be covering the side bolsters but did not.

Now you know how to park your car without expensive curb damage - haha!

First picture I've seen of the car *exactly* as I've ordered mine...AG with black stripes and no black roof. Agreed that white looks great and love the old school feel...I felt like 50 years later I'd try to do an hommage - but not replica - of the white / blue by going AG / black...still haven't seen one in person and hoping not to regret my choice. I love what I'm seeing in that picture!

SUNDAY, Mustang Memories

I got to take a really good luck at Avalanche Grey in the sun. These photos was taken with my Sony NEX-3N with an ISO value of 200 (camera was in auto mode). I only retouched the photos that picture the hood vent to lighten up what you could see in the engine compartment (not to good effect). The rest show the color is pretty close to what I think you would see in person since there were limited clouds in the sky.

Great pics. What's that yellow GT next to the AG GT350? Does the hood say 627 HP?

Check that, looks like the 70'-71' Torino GT laser stripe.

It was a Ford Performance-modified GT with supercharger.
