Hey GregO, one of the many advantages of a turbo is they knock a bunch of heat out of the exhaust before it gets to the cat. A supercharged v8 is probably the worst on them. In gt500 logs you can see they typically go into COT within 2 seconds of going WOT. I just wish someone would make an emissions turbo kit plus actual OS mods to incorporate TIP into the TB calculations…

A quick search resulted in a Turbo IN vs. OUT temperature reduction of 300°~400° F.
That’s a huge drop and something I overlooked.

The inferred cat temp will tell you nothing about the condition of the cats or if there is a problem with them.
You are right on this. I just messaged Lund. Time to revisit the tune and see what is out of whack. Hopefully it is something simple. If I have to bury the kitties, I have to.

I knew that intuitively from turbo machinery calculations, but it really shocked me reviewing ecoboost logs to find inferred cat temp in the 850 range vs my car running 14-1500.

What’s ironic is that all the coyote turbo kits get rid of the cats…

I wouldnt go wot with potentially clogged cats. You can take an o2 sensor out and look with a borescope maybe?

The car is in the garage, and not being driven until Lund reviews the logs.

If you know what you’re looking for you can watch the 4 o2 sensor signals at steady cruise and a bad cat will stick out like a sore thumb.

Just sent John the logs, hopefully I will get some feedback today.

No visual in IL. Some guys run no cats and pass. I didn't want to, but can't replace cats every 1,000 miles either.
My kid has long tubes and no cats. When he goes for emissions in IL they make one stand by the rear of the car in a phone booth sized room. The exhaust will bring tears to his eyes, yet his car passes. Thankfully they don't take a look under, they just plug into the OBD, which is easily fooled.

Well, evidently it's a boost loss issue. Logs show only making 5-7#. I need to see what is causing the loss. I don't believe it is belt slip, as I have a new Griptec 8 rib pulley and new belt on it.

Bypass valve stuck open, collapsed air filter, busted intercooler, or leaking coupler.

Thanks Mike. Probably not the filter as it is a HUGE S&B unit from MAK. I will check all of these though.

So no issues prior to pulley and belt change ?
Gates Green belt ? Did you verify the length ?
I know these are basic questions but honestly a personal friend of mine that owns a performance shop will only use Continental belts.
