Comments from Blackstone Labs on my oil report.
my first two oil changes were at 5000 miles each. The third one I did and used Mobile 1 (non extended performance) 5W-20. Ran it 10,000 miles.
I didn't run it quite the 20 minutes before changing the oil, but I did get it up to operating temps on the gauge.

Your sampling technique was fine. Sometimes, we'll find small amounts of fuel in cold samples, but no measurable fuel showed up here, so all is well in that regard.
Universal averages for this type of Ford engine are based on about 5,800 miles of oil use. You went 10,000 miles on this oil and wear metals are
still very close to average, so not only is your engine wearing well, but it also doesn't mind longer oil change intervals. The TBN was stout at 3.0, so there's enough active additive left to try 12,000 miles next. Excellent
first report for your Mustang GT!

Well, I'm not going to push it to see what 12,000 miles does. I feel that at 10,000 miles I've gotten my money's worth out of it even if they say it is still GTG.

I would spend the extra few dollars and run the ep version next time.

I'm still a bit old school and wouldn't go that far on oil changes.
Peace of mind with a few less miles per change.

Yep...people get all paranoid but data is data. It all depends on how you drive the car (and I don't baby mine, but the general rule is the higher the highway miles the longer the OCI, and the more the city miles and/or track work the shorter). This is on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-20 with the FL500S filters.

I always thought blackstone was a really cool deal. I didn't do it on my first oil change. I did it at 4k with the free one from my fathers dealership. But nonetheless I find it kind of interesting to see how they study the wear.

I've gone 20,000 miles with Amsoil on daily drivers and all my Blackstone reports came back very good. Old school is well, an old way of thinking.

The Coyote is a very nicely made engine so really as long as it's quality oil, you will be mostly fine.

How much does the Blackstone Labs report cost? It's says $28.00 for their "Standard Oil Analysis", is that what you're showing us?

Mine was $38 because I did the additive test also. I think it's normally $25??

So, $38.00.

Are there any other charges, like shipping? The standard cost is $28, did you add the "TBN" for $10? I saw that on their site, but there's no explanation of what "TBN" means.

I don't have one yet but what does ford specify for oci?

What does the oil life monitor tell you?

I would also be careful with extended drains if under warranty.

TBN = total basic number. TAN is the other side of the coin, the total acidic number.

TBN tells you, in general, how much of the additive package is still left.
