Hey all,
So I've got the ultimate first world problem - I bought a brand new 2020 HEP R from a dealer in California, had it shipped to Shelby American in Vegas for the SE package, and then had it shipped to my house in Massachusetts. In the whole time I've had it I've only put about 1100 miles on it. It's my dream car, but with the crazy amounts these cars are selling for, I'm scared to drive it!
I know, the purists will yell at me for turning my car into a garage queen. It wasn't my intention at first, I swear. Initially the lack of driving was just real life getting in the way. But then I started seeing these things sell online for big money and every time I take it out I get nervous that somebody's going to blow a red light and turn my super rare car into a junkyard queen. But I want to drive... something, and I need to decide whether I should sell, or keep as a collection, or keep and drive.
The big question that I have no answer for - Does having the GT350SE package added on add to the value of the car? Or does it depreciate it because it's no longer original... Even though the work was done by Shelby proper, does that not matter and lower the value the same way that Lucky Eddie's race shop's aftermarket parts would have? I'll post the full list of mods and additional details below.
Looking for honest opinions, or maybe even some actual appraisers I could contact. If this thing is worth a ton, I could sell it and buy something less rare than more fun. A nice Dark Horse in Grabber Blue seems pretty appealing right about now. Or if I've actually ruined the value of the car with my add-ons, that's honestly good news to me and I can just drive it like I want to. Thanks in advance!
GT350SE package details are here. I ended up paying around $20k for the upgrades... I have 90% of the original take-off parts including the carbon wheels(Shelby lost my original suspension). The biggest Shelby add-ons off the top of my head are:
