Mustangs racing at the Bathurst 6 Hour today

The Mustangs have less compulsory pit stops, so might be in with a slim chance of winning, despite not having the outright pace of the BMWs.

So far the Grant Denyer seems to be quicker than some of the BMWs across the mountain, which is a bit of a surprise, but slower on the straights.

Yep Morris and CO came 5th over all

It sounds like the stangs were all sufferring overheating issues

Yes, not helped by the main drivers being made ill by the fumes emitted from the turbo cars.

Grant Denyer was quicker in the early running in warmer conditions. A co-driver unfortunately crashed that Mustang (above) soon after, ending the main Ford hope.

P.S. The ’Morris’ Mustang was the only one that I recall reportedly overheating. The front splitter/under tray came loose, causing them to rip it off during a pit stop. They said that the missing bodywork contributed to the overheating.

All the Mustangs finished strongly, apart from the one that crashed.

There was some talk of running the Mustangs in Mach 1 form in the future.

Not a shabby effort, 3 Mustangs finished in the top 8 Outright, and 1-3 in a Class against 6.2L HSVs, and an AMG C63 ! There were only 5 Mustangs in the race and at least one (#25) was an older FM.

An interesting note - Guess Who was Crew Chief of the #95 Mustang................None other than Roland Dane !!!

Not a shabby effort, 3 Mustangs finished in the top 8 Outright, and 1-3 in a Class against 6.2L HSVs, and an AMG C63 ! There were only 5 Mustangs in the race and at least one (#25) was an older FM.

An interesting note - Guess Who was Crew Chief of the #95 Mustang................None other than Roland Dane !!!

It was a good result. It could have been closer but for bad luck on the driver front for both the Miedecke and Local Legends teams.

Those M3s and M4s were rocket ships!

Roland Dane inclusion was a bit of a surprise, although he his close to Paul Morris it seems. I guess he would not have been able to be involved in the past, his Supercar team being officially supported by Holden-GM until this year.

Two of the Mustangs were FM models. The reliability of all was impressive.

Good on them, I hope they do their development homework, and do well !!
After the pace and performance of the Mustangs in the Bathurst 6Hr, I would not be surprised if a few more Mustangs made an appearance on the grid next year.
