I did it. I went (also)on the dark side.
I am really lucky to have both.
2 awesome cara and yet so different.
I'd like to share some first impressions with you.
I must confess
the torque in the ZLE is addicted.
But the 8000rpm scream of the Mustang is unique.

2 opposite way to delivery power
Yes of course the Zle is supercharged but the Famous chevy mid torque is clear.
2 opposite way to drive them for fun
Mustang going over 4000rpm to find
Torque and so flat throttle till there
ZLE with careful dosaging of throttle input (can spin wheels in 3rd gear)

Visibility is more limited in the ZLE (but not as bad as I thought)but helped a lot with Technology.
My mustang is racetrack mainly so it is superrigid (springs : 650 front. 850 rear) but the ZLE is equally stiff OEM. Definetely not a comfortable daily drive.
Tire in the ZLE are aweful when cold and with rain. Will definetly need another set of wheels for "winter driving" (curiosity : same tires,3R, that i use with my mustang on track :) )

I hope to bring on track the ZLE soon. (Only 1week with that)

I will give you more updates in the next weeks.
Have a nice sunday
Alessandro

Looks good to me! I’ve also been consistently looking for a ZL1 to add to the stable.

Not sure what you mean but.. sure :) Still learning ' chevy nicknames but most of the ZL1 1le owners refer to them as ZLE :)

How is the zl1 around town?? Also I’ve heard the exhaust modes don’t stay like the mustang does. That it will be closed but when you floor it they open up. Is there a “quiet” startup mode?
Those motors have some of the nicest lope at idle.

there are many Drive modes in the ZLE. also 5 'sound mode' .
1.auto
2.stealth
3.tour
4 sport
5.track
with track fully open. with auto it cruised in stealth but when you push down it opens up to track.

honestly i like loud cars..but I'll keep stock for a little...

The Camaro opens the active exhaust on initial crank so it makes one hell of a bark. Very 5am neighbor unfriendly. But the valves are computer controlled - and open when needed, and not just blindly follow a user setting. Though having said that there does seem to be some jiggering going on when you select Sport or Track that the idle volume does change somewhat. The ZLE also has more settings than the SS/1LE.

My EB with AE didn't seem to have progressive opening based on throttle/RPM but seemed totally static based on 'mode' presets

I love loud too but have fallen in love with my quiet start. By far my favorite feature for leaving super early for work.
have an amazing garage! Congrats

Mustang AE, at least on a GT, by design has both a user setting plus adjustment based on throttle input, RPM, etc.
