It's muscle car versus electric SUV in this match-up between the Mustang Mach-E GT and the Steeda Shelby GT350 at the drag strip! We got our hands on a new Cyber Orange Mach-E GT and had to see how the 480 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque compared to the high-revving 5.2-liter Voodoo motor in the GT350 on the drag strip at our local Test ‘n Tune event at South Georgia Motorsports Park!

Gt350 not a drag car.. A 2018+ PP1 10A GT would have further gapped this anyways.

In two laps at Daytona the Mach E would overheat its battery cooling systems and cook the brakes, like any stock EV does. EVs will also do that on extended mountain backroads too.

I am pro Hydrocarbon. But.......

The exceptions to that will continue to rise by the day. Whatever the issues, they will be rectified very quickly now that mainstream manufacturers are starting to hit their stride.

Mercedes is already stating 5 minute charging is not far off. Mercedes usually delivers. So does Porsche.

Ive been watching battery tech pretty close and nothing suggests it imminent. Its like the solid state battery that is perpetually 5 years out. The 800v systems are pretty good, but still like 18min to 80%

I think you will find these things accelerating quite a bit vs. the past.

There are huge changes coming in months regarding infrastructure etc..

The money being put into R&D is insane.

Even if they get half way there, it's a huge advance that will just make them that much more marketable.

One thing for sure, the tech will not be going backwards.

No where to go but up.

Someday I will bite. But I am giving it few yrs for society to learn how to deal with it.

It will happen IMO.

Not to mention power generation which seams to be a bigger problem

Well the Tacyan could do more than two laps, but that’s a 150k Porsche, so it should.

I don't think you mentioned price.

So should a $150k Tesla but it doesn't.

Keep setting the bar higher. :cwl:

I can't believe the Mach-E was 5,030 pounds. WTF?

Didn't know they could make crap that dense...was funnier in my head. That is a piggy pig though! I'm still waiting for the 20k ish EV's. That's when I think it'll be more serious. When the truly disposable EV's hit the road. Then some whack job is gonna hack the systems and cause chaos. And this is basically the movie I might make if I win an obscene lottery amount.

Every time I see one of these on the road I throw up in my mouth a little. It wouldn't be so objectionable had they called it the Escape-E or the Edge-E or the Explorer-E or the Excursion-E, or even the Mach-E without the Mustang label behind it. It isn't even the fact that it is electric. It's the fact that it is a damn SUV. "Mustang" is one of the most legendary nameplates in automotive history.

Porsche fanboys would have burnt Stuttgart to the ground had Porsche decided to call the Cayenne the 911 Carrera All Terrain or something. Hell they almost burnt Stuttgart to the ground just because Porsche decided to make an SUV in the first place.
