That one was a little different. It sounded like a Formula Ford.
Huh? The IMSA GTO Turbo Mustang sounded like a Formula Ford? I can tell you with certainty that when I saw/heard this vehicle on track in the '80s, it did not sound anything like a normally aspirated Pinto engine from a Formula Ford, as it belched flame out he side like a Porsche 935.

I think you may have misconstrued my sentiment here. I am not "dissing" turbo fours. I also own a 944 Turbo, which led me to the Ecoboost Mustang purchase. It is amazing what can be done with a turbo four. But a pre-active valve exhaust Ecoboost engine does not make any inspiring noises. But like you, I'm more concerned with performance, so I have not bothered to modify the exhaust on my otherwise stock motor. No point, other than to make it sound better.

Wait a minute. Are you trying to insinuate that the exhaust sounding better doesn't improve performance? Are you also going to say that stickers, stripes, and badges don't add horsepower

It was just a joke based on the other 2 examples I showed. The GTO (pretty sure) and all FF's have the Kent motor as a base. I would have lumped the GTP in as well, but that was a Cosworth BDA.

My parents actually owned two Mustang II's at different times. The first was bad, but at least it didn't stick around long. The second was my mother's (post their divorce). That thing was real shit. She ended up trading for a Pinto...which was a noticeable improvement.

Poor people do poor people shit.

I changed out my active exhaust from the stock to Borla. I was hoping for some weight loss but it was just about 1.5 pounds lighter. It is louder and we believe it does sound better, but nowhere near a V8. on my M3 and '03 boxster, Borla exhausts are 50% lighter (sigh).

I have Tomei to run in competition. It's seriously light, about 10# total weight. It is pretty loud, too, especially with the silencer end open.

2020 Ecoboost 10AT, more than $13k in updates

Biggest issue so far is the tranny overheating. I have not been able to test the handling to absolute limits as the series rules limit to 245 tires. But its a promising platform.

I don't know who is doing your tuning, but you should be able to make right at 300 HP over a large portion of the rev range, like from 3000 revs to redline.
