This was posted on a UK Mustang Facebook page last night. Unfortunately, no details to support it yet, but I assume this is just a design student's study and likely not anything officially from Ford.

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but I do see elements of the sculpture Ford previewed in China.

Side view looks like a Camaro to me.

Always loved the rear end of the TR!

I'm still no wiser as to who designed this, but I'm pretty sure it'll "just" be a design student. It was, however, first posted on a FB/Instagram account called mustangaddicts

THe rear window silhouette reminds me of the original Cuda fastback.

Agree some elements def look borrowed from Camaro, I think it's near the b pillar but can't quite identify what makes it look like that. Rear guard shape? Maybe the design challenge was to take elements from each.

I think the rear looks a lot like a 1968 Mustang fastback that is just wider to accommodate big wide wheels. Just because of form following function , some similarity will appear to have come from other vehicles. I would not fault a design that has certain angles to it that makes one think of another car. I would buy a Mustang of the above design in a heartbeat.

I don’t think that is just a “design student”... there’s too many renderings in the background similar to when a vehicle manufacturer gets ready for the next platform. You all recall when the S550 Bullitt images leaked - similar poster boards and design drawings existed in the background of the main image back then too.

Looks to me that could be the makings of a next gen Shelby, for what year it’s anyone’s guess - but bet on some of those styling cues coming to fruition...

What is even more curious is the fact there are classic Shelby images and a Black Fox SVO on the poster boards being used for styling cues or “ideas” for the clay mock up. The last poster board all the way to the right appears to have a 69/70 Mustang judging by the shape of the visible rear 1/4 window in that image.

Take your guesses....

Don't get my hopes up...................if this is an official Ford concept I'd be over the moon. This is the coolest (in my opinion) model/rendering I've seen of a next-gen Mustang :)

Now, if only this had been posted by Dwayne Johnson.......

That looks like a 5th gen Camaro with mustang tail lights. The 5th gen was a great looking car. But do we really want to copy that?

This is the inspiration I see :)

(the rear 3/4 window is a shape we've never really seen on a Mustang........but I think it works)

yup - that’s what I’m saying. The poster boards in that one image the last image to the far right, you can clearly see it’s a 69/70 Mustang roofline and rear 1/4 window...

The one Mustang Ford has not retro’d yet is the B9... so either that mock up is future Shelby or going to be B9 homage....
