I'm still not sure the timeline/roadmap makes since. That gives the GT500 a 2 year life 2019 - 2020

Wasn't the original plan for the GT350/R only 2 years as well? Doesn't seem unlikely here.

Since i just watched A Faster Horse again yesterday: that engine bay footage is from A Faster Horse, around the ten minute mark. nothing new.

I'm hoping the V8 is kept 100%! You just can't beat that soundtrack. Adding batteries to it doesn't mean it become sterile … keep the V8 and it won't.

Lyric's (not in commercial) to "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones include:

"I see a line of cars and they’re all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back."

Not what I would use in my ad but hey, only an old coger like me would recall lyrics like this.

It looks kind of like a Tesla. And when you factor in people can't buy them fast enough and are paying a big premium to go all electric then maybe Ford is smart for copying it.

I don't think from that you can assume the future engine is a V8-during the talk about "the past" they zoom through a 15-17' grill and explode out a 15-17' 5.0 GT engine.
THEN they cut to the future concept and start taking about the future, but do not show a powerplant..

Sadly, it looks like the Ford 500/Taurus is coming back with a Mustang logo.

Also, looks very much like an EVOS Concept front end:

"Davis declined to give much detail on the Aviator setup other than to say it would generate more than 450 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque."

"That said, we can probably count on at least 16-20 kWh of battery capacity"

doing the math the 3.0 makes 400/400 so the hybrid motor is pretty powerful. that said the mustang would probably get a scaled down version.

Posted similar in the 7th Generation Mustang thread. I think it'd be awesome if it was the exact same system (well maybe without the plugging in) matched up with a Coyote to put down 500/650 instead but I don't think that'll happen unless it is a higher engine option. If they put something like this on the Ecoboost it would definitely be right there with the current V8.

Honestly, this exact setup is what I'd expect. The new Explorer will get it too most likely with similar or identical numbers. 450 hp gives it the "V8-like" power they talked about last year and the 600 lb/ft ensures that even though it'll be much heavier, it'll probably smoke the V8.
