Hi All,
This is something I had been searching for a while on and could never find a great answer. Loads of threads saying "PP2 has different fender liner, wont fit" "PP2 has magnaride, wont fit non MR cars" etc and the opposites. I purchased a set of OEM takeoff PP2 wheels (19x10.5 front 19x11 rear) and 305 square sport cup 2 tires and wanted to detail my experience to anyone else who is thinking of getting these wheels for their non PP2 Mustang.
I mounted these on my 2016 Mustang GT (non performance pack).
Strut Clearance: The wheels cleared the struts front and back by a finger width. No issues here from my drives.
Fender Liner: This is where people indicated the issue is, and I can confirm, it is a slight issue. The wheel TECHNICALLY clears the fender liner. The issue is the distance to the front fender liner on tight, fast turns. I'm guessing that the PP2 fender liner is pushed in out to the front of the bumper more since I have plenty of room to move it in that direction.
One thing I had the foresight to do before testing, and I'm glad I did, was remove the 8mm bolt above the push pin in the fender liner. I think if the wheel rubs the fender liner, worst case it sticks and breaks it off, but if it snags on this bolt at any speed you will probably damage the tires.
With the car going straight, no issues at all. I tested up to 100mph and had absolutely no issue with the wind pushing the fender liner into the wheels.
Next I did fast lock to lock turns at 15-20 mph. This did cause slight rubbing of the tire to fender liner. Nothing catastrophic.
Low speed turning there was no issues at all.
I ended up switching the Sport cup 2s off after 2 miles of driving and put 295/30/19 front 305/30/19 rear Michelin PS4S on. Going to 295/30/19 fronts totally eliminated the rub on the fender liner at lock to lock turns. The wheels in the front still poke a pretty decent amount but I personally like it. They now fit without any clearance issues and I have loved all the extra grip.
