Or use the money you save not modding the “shit” out of an Ecoboost and get the GT
Yes and instead of spending money modding it, spend 5k a year on insurance. I think anyone who didn't get a car <24 yrs old or somehow get some miracle insurance, will be able to tell you, like i can, 20-24 insurance for a v8 is the following (going off memory as i've done a check every year): 20 - 5980, 21 - c5000, 22 - c5500, 23 - c 4800, 24 - 1900, 25 - will let you know in a few months.

So the money i'd have blown versus the EB on insurance alone:
yr 1 (21) - 4200
yr 2 (22) - 4800
yr 3 (23) - 4030
yr 4 (24) - 1500

So overall, having a v8 since i had my EB i'd have spent: £14530 on INSURANCE alone, that's discounting the additional £300 per year in tax which the original v8's were (the £145's we'll discount as they're no longer available unless preowned, or weren't a thing when i bought), so that's another £1200.

So errr.................... no, just, no lol!

I know you did, but some newbies will sit there thinking "ooooh it's cheaper" and may not actually look at all the costs, which for us 'youth'/'ex-youth' is a bit of a high cost annoyingly so!

Being down at <500 to insure mine this year, i have a feeling next year (and i'll lose my crash that's now 5.5yrs ago and was only 1k of dmg), will be fairly cheap like 3-500 ish, and a v8 probably around the 800's would be my guess.

Albeit, with the Mustang Mach-E coming out, i'd sooner buy a corvette than a new mustang because it just makes me feel like the entire brands going backwards.

Don’t know where you have read that, but it’s not true, I work at a Ford Store
Even on the official ford website the 2020 model looks exactly like the high performance pack and it mentions the extra design features but for some reason it doesn’t talk about the performance increase, does that mean in the UK market we just get the ‘design’ pack?

There's the following btw.

15-17 - 310 (listed), 270 (Actual)
18-20 - c280 (listed), 270 (actual)
20 w/ Hi Performance (EXTRA) - c350 (lited) - Actual TBC.

The 20 does not automatically come with the high performance pack, all UK cars come with a 'performance pack' as the US models have, which means the 4 pot brakes, interior upgrades etc etc, but it DOES NOT come with the Hi-Perf
But if you look on their website the model in the configurator has all the outer design features

It's not the hi-performance model, that's 'extra' and that's if it even comes over here/passes approval.

All the exterior details match the HPP model and it’s already available to order. Just don’t know anyone on any forum who’s taken delivery yet

Is this classed as 'standard'?

I've just gone onto the ford UK site to spec one, the 'image' shows the 55 edition pack, not the HP pack (as no side emblem), but as above, it shows the side emblem in it, however ford may now be doing 2.3's on the side rather than a 'high performance' badge, who knows.
It would be crazy for ford to give the HP pack without offering it for more money when the states toss them for a few 000's more.
If they do however, go for it...!

That said if we do a cost comparisson brand new is circa £40k, you can get a used v8 around £26-28k, lets discount that due to insurance as you're in my shoes 4 years ago, so a used EB you can get 22-26k, that's 14k saved versus the brand new EB and 4-6k over a used V8 (obviously other things can affect price), but for 4-6k you can mod the EB and have it run 350-400 horses (Depending on extent of tune)

(Exhaust + Dp - £1600, Tuner + tune device - £900, WGA + Intake - £500, IC - £550, plugs + catch can - £200) - £3750.

Yeah that’s the base model ecoboost in UK. I see your point but the models in UK already come equipped with some packages rather than paying for them like in the US. Eg. We don’t get fabric seats as standard and leather as an upgrade.
It’s just a bummer that i thought we got the HPP as standard as well. Contacted Ford ages ago still waiting for a reply

Get a v8 if you're in the middle of nowhere! I never paid more than about £340 on insurance and I picked mine up 9 days after my 23rd birthday. But car crime etc.. is literally non existent where I live.
