Tob, I checked several of the 2020 Mustangs with automatics and the ones produced before August 13th had the recall and those produced after August 13 did not. None of the 2020 GT500 on the list show recalls.

I don't know why the GT500 are not showing up, but when it comes to Ford, you never know until you know.

It would be interesting to take a look at the BOM's for the recalled cars and see the part number for the brake pedal bracket assembly.

From The Man and with respect to the three VIN's you posted Earl:

FR3C 2D094 AE is the respective engineering number
FR3Z 2455 AA is the respective service number (which was replaced with FR3Z 2455 AE)

I was lucky in that I only had one other guy and the instructor. We hit 139 a couple of times but that was it.

Goose....anyone get into the 11's at the strip?
Without doing any tire-warming burnouts. All I could muster was low 12s on the 4S tires. I have to go back through my slips (we did a crap ton of runs). I think I hit 128ish, which my buddy that was watching said was the highest trap speed. I won all my heads-up races but one when I tried a high RPM launch (bog). I’m guessing I did about 15 runs. The 1st time I went, I only got in 4 runs.
I did the Charlotte roval 9/12-13 and was over 150 at least half the time and always over 145 at the end of the back straight if not in traffic.
Did you do it with the chicanes set up to slow down the straights? We also had a lead student change every time in another spot to keep speeds down.

The pro driver hit 137 going balls out with me in the right seat.

Earl asked me about the following GT500's...

Here are a few VINs for GT500's built in Sept/Oct 2020

1FA6P8SJ8L5504206 - 2020-09-24
1FA6P8SJ7L5504214 - 2020-09-23
1FA6P8SJ2L5504248 - 2020-09-29
1FA6P8SJXL5504255 - 2020-10-02
- Answer I got was "no recalls on any of them"
- All use the same engineering number, FR3C 2D094 CE with the same pedal bracket assembly,
FR3Z 2455 AB.

This continues to make zero sense. We have the defective part, but we are not part of the recall. I ordered the part. $105 and change. Maybe it will get here before track season. F'in Ford...

As crazy as it sounds Tom, at this point you cannot definitively say that the AB assembly has been deemed defective. I find this equally irritating that Ford can't articulate the issue better but I assume we'll be in a better position as Ford gets closer to actually repairing vehicles that are part of the recall.

I guess the answer is to independently tear into the car to determine which version of part we have and ascertain the material the bracket is constructed from?

Like the reservations that you have expressed, I don't want to go sailing into turn 1 at 180 MPH and "HOPE" the brakes work or don't fail.

Maybe I need to invest in one of these....

It looks like the bracket (FR3Z-2455-AB) that came with most of our cars has been discontinued and replaced with the same bracket (FR3Z-2455-AF) that comes in the recall update kit.

Sounds like that's the answer, Earl. If it is, then we're all in the same bote. I wonder how quickly the supplier can manufacture thirty THOUSAND of them? <shaking head>

If you're going to squeeze blood out of a turnip, do it on something like the carpet or the tail lights, not the frigging BRAKES. Geeze...

Maybe somebody could scan the original piece and make us a CF or billet replacement. Reminds me of the good ol plastic clutch quadrant on the fox bodys, they’d strip out constantly, someone finally got wise and made a billet replacement.

I dunno, plastic brake parts, ANYWHERE in the system, just do not seem cool to me.

My point was that if you mess with it you are liable for the ramifications should there be an accident. I completely agree that the part in question shouldn't be constructed out of anything but materials that will not fail. Save weight and cost elsewhere.....
