There are aftermarket solutions, though. They're not as nice as an integrated OEM implementation, but still better than nothing, I guess.

One that I found is Pandora security system. They claim the engine remote start feature on some of their products. I did not find however any info about whether it applies only to cars with an already preinstalled remote start unit (e.g. only Mustangs with an AT), or could be used also on cars with the manual. Does anybody know?

You now need to request a FORScan Extended License to Enable Programming Access. Currently FORScan will give a 2 Month License which you can request again after the 2 Months expires.
The FORScan team does have plans to charge for the application in the future, which is why the licenses are for a short period at a time.

If you click on the Help? Mark on the bottom of the left toolbar. You will see the following screen...

Make note of your Hardware ID or Copy it to clipboard to paste in the license request form.

Just make sure you get an original one. There are cheap clones out there which don't work properly.

I wanted a Wireless one, and opted for this which works just as well, just in case you want to give it a go, plus it works with performance mobile apps like Dash Command.

Yes, that's good also, if you want wireless.
Personally I don't trust wireless interfaces when it comes to flashing critical modules, which could, at least in theory, be bricked if a loss of communication occured while writing data. This may not be the case with the sort of light configuration changes that most people use ForScan for, but firmware updates should not be attempted wirelessly. Better safe than sorry.
But for doing live scans using a mobile app, it's perfect, of course.

Good god, lets hope they are smarter than doing the actual write over wireless. I mean even wired doing the transmission first, error check then flash is smarter.

Just did a bit of forescanning.
Disabled the no key honk.

But, there is no longer the GT Ford Performance splash screen in the APIM.
In its place in position D is a generic ford oval.
I tried every number and letter in the alphabet. No joy.
So, for the Mustang there is only the Pony emblem splash screen (and GT 350)
