Is there a installation write up or video on this with the motor and transmission still in the car? How can you get access to the freeze plugs to get them out?

Thanks
Jack

From what I've gathered, take the intake manifold off and use pliers

If you have never done it before then you will probably find removing the intake manifold very helpful. It’s really a easy install

I have and plan on removing the intake. Just know that there is not much room back there. I can't see how you can grab them with pliers. I have only seen it done with the engine out of the car and then using a screwdriver and a hammer. I know it can be done in the car just like to hear from someone that has done it.

Thanks
Jack

I use a small air cylinder to punch it in then grab it with long 90* needle nose

Install the MMR Cooling Mod in a 5.2 GT350 - YouTube

This is Honey Badger's vid.

I honestly don't see how it could be done with the motor in the car. First, even if you disconnect the trans and motor mounts, you can't really tip the motor the correct direction to provide proper clearance.

You might be able to get the OEM plug out, but inserting the new piece is going to be a royal pain in the ass without the ability to push or tap on the new one with a rubber mallet.

I used the freezer technique as well.

Will likely need to unbolt and drop the K-member in order to gain access.

So are you saying this mod is necessary or unnecessary?

I don't know I was asking what your asking. I know back in my Cobra Days supposedly there was an issue with coolant flow at the back of the head. But you would have to imagine Ford has addressed it at this point right?

So many darn people run it. I've got a new kit sitting on my bench. Contemplating even installing it and my motors not in the car.

I can’t imagine how big of a pain in the arse it is from the engine side. I pulled the tranny to do it my 350. I had to change some routing on the drivers side and theres no way I would have been able to do it without the tranny out. I had to mess with the orientation on the passenger side as well. The kit does stop the hot spots on the back of the heads.

What data is available that supports "stop the hot spots"?
