Now that I've had my wheels for a bit, I think I do want to go ahead with a slight drop. I want to keep drivability and don't want to go too low, just want to close up the wheel gap a bit. Currently thinking of either the BMR SP763 or the Steeda Minimum Drop Springs. Steeda looks like it'll be an even half inch drop all around, and BMR is half inch rear and 7/8" in the front.

Any opinions or personal experience with either of these two?

BMR SP763 with a Whipple and stock wheels and stock size MPSS. It did ok for what it was, but I eventually moved to FRPP shocks/struts and SP083s.

The rear diameter is larger on the PP1 and doesn't need as much drop in the back as it does the front. Go measure it. You will see. I am leaning towards going with the BMR SP763 just for that balanced look on my PP1. But I also like the Steeda progressives for daily comfort with a softer initial spring rate and the firmer spring rate when you get on it. I just don't like the 1" drop in the rear and from what I have learned about suspension, the less drop the better. So unless Steeda comes out with a progressive spring drop of .5" rear 1" front, I will likely go with the BMR SP763.

I have never liked progressive springs, I had Eibachs on my TA back in the day and they were so soft at first then would be bouncing like they were too stiff. I will take a linear spring all day.... thats what the factory springs are anyway.

thanks for your input on them. I just changed the rear dampers on my PP1 to Ford Perf Track versions and I really like how the car firmed up. Not harsh and not bouncy. Linear springs with a slightly higher rate over factory and a little lower are going to be perfect for me. I think the decision is made. SP763 it is.

All of them
BMR started the 'minimal drop' trend and is priced right. My vote goes to them. Luckily none of the minimal drop offerings are a bad choice though.

I ordered the Steeda min drop springs and to my surprise the rear spring is same as the rear drag spring.

That’s why I didn’t order the Steeda min drops - almost the same spring rate as my stock PP1 springs.

I’m glad spring rate finally made it into this discussion:

Steeda Min Drops: 200/800*
BMR Min Drops: 170/740
GT: 160/668
GT PP: 165/728

I’d personally select 200/800*–the nose of this car can take a lot of rate and really spices-up the handling. But if drop is your primary criteria, the BMRs do have more rake.

*rear spring rate updated to reflect Steeda’s newly published numbers

This is before and after Steeda Sport springs installation. This was with about 150 miles on the springs. I am very happy with the drop, ride, and the customer service Steeda provided. I’ve always been a fan of their products.
