thanks for the response!

I’m not opposed to driving on the Hoosiers but we are known for pop up storms and showers here in Houston. The 1/8th mile track is 60mi round trip and the 1/4 mile one is 100mi round trip. Worst case I put them in my truck and have my girlfriend drive that and I change them out at the track.

What size would you recommend if I went Hoosier?

I’ve got the wheel hop taken care of. I didn’t have any of it when I ran the other night. That was what I was anxious to see; how well all the stuff I put in there would fare. And I thought it did great. I just realized I needed a sticky tire.

Whenever I wear the G2’s down I’ll probably go Indy Firehawks for my street tire.

As for the clutch; if I blow it then I understand it’s part of racing. This is my weekend/fun car so if the stock clutch goes to Ford heaven then I’ll replace it with a McLeod.
I recommend Hoosier 28x10-17. Could lay down back seats and put slicks/jack/tools in trunk all wrapped in a moving blanket. Swap at the track.

reviving this from the dead again....

i just got some 17x10.5... if i have a basic setup (+18 IM, jlt intake, 47 lb injectors, mak cat delete and E85 PBD tune) what size tire will you guys recommend for those 17x10.5??? my car is automatic A6 I'll change my wheels at the track so im not concerned about drivability, just performance at the track...

suspension: stock + steeda irs subframe support bars and vertical links

I drive on my 28x11.5x17 Street R bias plies on a 17x9.5 wheel to/from the track. No problems. Got a 4/10ths better 60ft over my previous Nitto 05R's.

After quite a few practice runs and adding viking crusader high hp valving drag shocks, I was able to get a 1.39 60ft using 305/45/17 ET Street R radial version. Bias plys are easier to make work on a stick car, but if you can get used of slipping the clutch and have suspension dialed in, definitely can make a radial work.

If you wanna break shit on a stick car.. definitely use radials.

Maybe in the past, but radial technology has gotten way better. I drank that radials + stick= boom koolaid when I bought my first drag wheel setup (Hoosier bias ply) Car has been faster on radials and have not broken any driveline parts. I have 56 passes on my radial set up, and the majority of those are 5,000 rpm 2 step launches. The majority of guys that race the stick shift class at my local track use radials and a clutch tamer type of device. I tell you what I did break...the snout of my crankshaft on my stock motor at 12,000 miles. Now that sucked!

I would hope your not breaking things just from reading your sig. Me ? Steeda bushing support & alignment kit, & bias plies. Stock clutch, 3000 rpm launch. That's it. 1.6 60ft. Thank you bias ply.

For me bias ply tires are a whole lot easier to control when the tires are spinning or the car is sliding.

When Nascar went to radials all the greats from the 70's and 80's were washed up.

I don't think any top fuel team uses radials.
