Edit going for The all season 4 after some thinking

Need opinions on this, I recently placed an order for apex ec7 wheels 18x10 et 40.

I jumped the gun and bought the Michelin all season 3+ in 285/35/18. A shorter tire and its on sale for 172 per tire.

I can trade up and get 285/40/18 which would keep Speedo within 1% vs the 5% at 285/35. And it would only be $250 more.

Or do I step up to the new Michelin all season 4 in a 275/40/18? It will keep the speedo within 2%. I'm giving up some tire contact, but maybe the new tire technology is worth it for about $440 more.

For comparisons
height
285/35/18 is 25.9"
285/40/18 is 27"
275/40/18 is 26.7"

Width
285/35/18 is 11.2"
285/40/18 is 11.2"
275/40/18 is 10.8"

Tread width
285/35/18 10.3"
285/40/18 10.2"
275/40/18 9.7"

The Corvette does come with that AS4. Supposedly it is a new tire with great grip and cold weather manners.

Let me know what you decide; I'm looking at that combo wheel/tire as well.

Most of the marketing for the AS4 seems to tout it's wet/snow abilities.I hope it didn't lose anything in dry capability compared to the A/S3+.

Here is a picture of the two tires, you can see the differences in the tread pattern.

Does anybody know what's the cabin noise level from the stock PS4Ss to the A/S4s? I wanted to get the A/Ss since the beginning, but Michelin didn't play ball at all. So will wear the 4Ss out, then put A/Ss, and if I can find a comparable one, something other than Michelin. Aholes. Ha ha. But just curious if A/Ss are an improvement in cabin noise vs the summer 4Ss.

So i just got the car back, initial thoughts on the all season 4 right of the lot, the tire is pretty quiet.

I decided to get on the high way and do a 20 mile loop ( gotta break in the tires), Yea these tires are damn near silent compared to the ps4s which does not surprise me at all.

On my way back I had a thunderstorm hit me, I could not really evaluate wet performance because everyone on i270 /dmv came to a craw (5-20mph). I swear these people see a drop of rain or a snow flake they forget how to drive. It amazes me, that they drive slow in light rain and they still get into accidents in the local lanes. Honestly wasn't that bad both days but all well. Rant over!

Once I officially break the tires in, ill start to push them harder and update you guys. After that ill swap back to my summer wheels with the ps4s on them, and give another update.

Looking forward to your second update, to assess handling differences :); many thanks. And glad to hear they're quieter than the PS4Ss. Their TireRack ratings are basically identical (8.xx), but you just confirmed the scales are obviously different for each category, so can't really compare stats of one category vs another. Thanks again.
