I'm 99% sure that's from a broken crank sprocket. Pretty crazy for that level of damage if you're NA 😧

Yep, bone stock. I don't even drive it that hard.

Do not start engine, call a hook and off to the dealer for warranty repair or replacement.

Can't imagine the engine sounded good with a gear tooth missing.
Car drives and sounds fine. I'll be taking it in this week.

Even with a tooth broke off it might go 200K miles without any issues.

Sure, but it might grenade itself too. No way I'd drive a car I gave a shit about with chunks of metal coming out of the oil.

It's in warranty, I'd want a new engine, so let it blow. Honestly I'd probably bounce the rev limiter....

How do you guys find stuff like this in your oil? I change mine at work and it just goes down our oil change tank. But I feel like maybe I should be doing mine different.
Makes you wonder how many of us are driving around with "missing teeth"? No pun intended.. πŸ€ͺ

Ford has the car. They are disassembling to find the cause now(covered by warranty). They suspect the crank sprocket. I asked them to keep the broken piece(s) that they find so I can see them and I'll post them here if others are curious. I have to say, they've been really awesome so far. No push back or accusing me of being to hard on the car. I spoke to the service manager about modding and warranty coverage also to try to get a feel for how they feel about it. He explained that he is very fond of VMP and they have tuned all his cars for the past 8 years. Also said I should look into long tubes and E85 or whipple. Guess they are mod friendly. lol
