A lot of people often pick the simplistic look of the turbo guard and the perception that it’s more open and flow friendly than an inlet. The team over at Mak Performance and @AdrianMAK recently released their new larger hurricane inlet for Procharger systems so I got my hands on one to get some data on it.

Figured the best way to test this would be hood closed so instead of a dyno I took it to the draggy backed by a log. 2 60-130 hits in similar weather same distance from the house to not give one an edge over the other. Below is screenshots of the weather data (DA was actually worse during the inlet on test), the 2 draggy hits in 3rd gear from 55-58mph so no run up and no possibility of spin, slightly over 1/2 tank on both setups. Car saw same timing on all runs.

In summary with Mak’s new 4.5” inlet the Procharger saw more air load and a little over 1psi of boost more compared to the turbo guard Maxx and was about 3 tenths faster 60-130.

Looks like it will be everything I hoped (and waited) for! Thanks for posting the data!

I don't see how a filtered inlet can possible flow more that having nothing at all. A filter is a restriction, how can removing a restriction loose power and airflow?

Data is all there brother. fact is that a turbo guard isnt 100% open, the mesh actually covers I believe about 20% of the inlet of the blower, and thats the Maxx, others are more restrictive.

The mesh of the turbo guard creates turbulence. The MAK inlet smoothes the airflow, and gives a velocity stack effect by going from 4.5" to 3.75" in the coupler. The results don't lie.

It's not completely open, no but the fact that you can see the turbine of the supercharger means it's a whole lot more open then the air filter which you can see 0% through

The filter has about twice the surface area needed, which means almost zero restriction.

Good job.... supported by data with documentation...

I am interested but before I buy would like see how it compares to the factory plastic Procharger inlet.

I have a 2015 with P1X HO, been looking at the MAK... Anyone know if it will fit with an aftermarket 2.25" radiator? I have the stock radiator with stock PC inlet now, and its already a tight fit... Thanks for the good info!
